It's Pres-kit, NOT Pres-Scott, folks! (This is for the AZ newbies)
Beg pardon but I've been a resident of AZ since '44 and have always heard, and pronounced, it PRESS-kot.

Now, let's talk about Mogollon (MUGGY-own).

And, TUCSON is NOT spelled T-U-S-C-O-N (however those dolts at the FAA spelled the airport designation T-U-S which is where this abomination began...I'm assuming). When I was a kid I saw mail addressed to 'Tuxson'. Pronounciation is TOO-sawn or too-SAWN if you wish. My mother and I never agreed on this either but then she was from MISH-e-gone.

And while we're on the subject....San Manuel is NOT spoken "SAMMON-welz".

There is no spoken 'e' at the end of Casa Grande......eet's SI-lent.

It's 'tem-PEE', not 'TEMP-ee'. Sorry ASU-ites...you been taught wrong (and it ain't 'A' Mountain neither), it's either Tempe Butte or Hayden's Butte depending on whether you are a native Arizonan (NOT Arizonian) or reading a federal map).

I could do this all day. Chime in if you wish!

But that means that, for 79 years, you have been wrong.

And is a good example of monolingual American's ignorance of how the Spanish word is pronounced.

No, you proved your point.

78. Pul-EZE!

The language tends to be modified once it crosses the border. We ain't in MEH-si-co no more seen-your! ;) But one problem is Gringo's don't have rolling r's.

But then look at whut the Southerners did to prop-pur En-glish!
No, you proved your point.
Thenk Yew!

Criminy! You really are old. The 1940 census has the population of Phoenix at just 65,414. The only radio stations back then were KOY, KTAR, and KPHO.

In 1940 there were a lot more stations than that:

That is 11 stations, including one CP in Press-kit and an early station in Jerome!

KPHO arrived a year later.

Germann Rd. in Chandler - oh, where to begin? Pronounced like "germaine" (like the word "relevant") or like German? I have been told that both are correct.
We should just rename it Deutsche Voomstrasse and be done with it.
And then there's Verde, pronouced "Vayr-day", and oh how I cringe when I hear it pronounced "Ver-dee". UGH!
Norte Americanos have always pronounced Verde 'VER-dee'. Cringe away!

AHEM! "Experienced" is the correct adjective. And I didn't live in Phoenix back then....but close.
