FEBRUARY 2011 PPMS REVIEW

i dunno, dont know? but, if KVI was smart they'd open things up musically. they have nothing to lose, as they are in a last place run. may as well try to fertilize some of the music passion people. but, please remember you instant result monger programmers. there are no instant rating uptick results with an improvement in the music playlists. this takes time, and dayparting genius. its like throwing a big oak log on a fire.

according to my favorite poster, the radio guru TV, there aint no one programming here at KVI, and its only week day filler music material, before the weekend money getter advertisement talk shows that come up after friday commences.

Because the courage to innovate and go against the grain just isn't there.

Maybe you'll like McDonald's new vegan menu they're going to try out for the month of May.
They hope it works!!

Scott, Listening to KVI today and tonight and have notice a big influx of music.
At least 10 tunes I haven't heard. Share the Land-Guess Who the latest around 10pm. Sounds much better, just hope they keep mixing the music up.

So, let's change the music.

So, let's not change the music.

I'm confused, what are you trying to say?

AQH,

You know rotations, some here not so well.

A (powers) Little movement needed
B (power -) same as above
C (med) more movement needed
D (med-) same as above
E (wow) shake it up, once a hour
D (where did that come from) every other hour, some of these barely
cracked the top 30 but sound gooded (Red rubber Ball, Alice Long, Sweet Pea, ect) 1 every two to three hours)
What the heck? Can't hurt the KVI ratings too bad?

Cut news and traffic content to 60sec news updates, some are way to long! Send folks to KOMO, sister station for more! KOMO send yours the other way for music. Gotta cross promo beter!

Was out with one of my buddies yesterday and was suprised to hear
570 on his radio. He had just found it.

My comments were not so much about music rotations, but trying to figure out the contradiction within the same post.

The cross-promoting is good, but it's really the least of KVI's problems right now.

That's good too, but it happens with a lot of other stations as well. Including stations that have been around for a long time.

meaning that for those instant gratification corporates suits, and/or ownerships, who expect instant rating results with the next book, guess again. big contests that are drummed, and promo'd over and over, may provide instant rating up ticks like kindling on a fire, but advancement and progression of music playlists takes time, but does work, especially in combination with other promos like contests. also, new oldies adds, that are off the usual same/lame corporate playlist, need to be rotated often to gather a new familiarity. almost like if the song was a new chart hit.

example: al green has a couple songs that get regular airplay over and over again on the corporate cookie cutter playlists across the USA. instead of "lets stay together", try adding "you ought to be with me" and"look what you done for me", in addition. both those other songs are hits. if the programmer is gun shy that people will tune out, then play it often for a few months, as if it were a new chart hit like yester year. this can also apply to many other songs, and forgotten hits that no longer get regular airplay. also, its time to day part, and open up the night times, and graveyard shifts. although just a small percentage of daytime AQH tune ins, the night time is ripe for TSL'rs, who are on shift as taxi drivers, boeing workers, truck drivers, cops etc. these people are with you for the entire shift, and need more than the same lame corporate shame.

You managed to mention 'corporate' four times, and that's all I learned from your post.

Thanks. I think.

Of course the record labels had a pretty good thing going too then along came iTunes and where is that business model now for the labels???

You do know that iTunes pays the labels, don't you? The problem for record labels is piracy, not legitimate digital resellers.
