February 2024 Nielsen Beauty Pageant Numbers...

Ooh, I get to beat the resident copy-paste spammer pjc1961 to this tonight. 😂

Nielsen numbers are out for February. As expected, a good size rodeo jump for KILT (and surprisingly a drop for "Rodeo Radio" 93Q), KSBJ is still holding strong in spite of 97.1 making a valiant effort at playing the satellite feed, and the sun's still shining at KODA. No surprise to anyone, KFNC still holding strong at a 0.1.

Check your favorite source below, I'm partial to the good people at RadioInsight, but you've got options...

KQQK is now 4.5??
Standard observation of how well a rimshot can do if programmed correctly.
What’s going on KLTN???? Holding second place tied with KTJM-FM
La Raza is another rimshot doing nicely these days. The recent success of the two Estrella stations might help raise the price if rumors of a group sale come true.

Meanwhile: Gotta wear eclipse glasses with Sunny shining so bright.

KSBJ is reaching heavenly heights.

93Q and The Bull neck and neck. Who picked up most of the displaced Country Legends audience?

The Buzz in the fives. It may be a train wreck, but plenty of passengers are riding those rails.

Mega recovers a bit. Considering the other Hispanic targeted numbers, have the PPM panel issues been resolved?

Sportsradio 610 lost a lot of listeners (no football?) but they sure didn’t go to Sportstalk 790. Most of this book was after 610 moved from their legacy transmitter site and are now on a reduced signal from the KNTH diplex.

Our favorite dumpster fire, KFNC, at a typically horrible 0.1. They are actually behind Classical on a stand-alone HD-2. David Gow, please sell this station…though I’m sure you are already in that process.

A theory of mine regarding the PPM panel issues and the rise of KQQK and KTJM is that the issues are still not resolved, so the Hispanic meters that are available are being overweighed and they seem to be in the heavily Hispanic eastside of the market where the pair of Estrella rimshots have a good signal.

Clearly, the Raul Brindis P1's Have shifted to KQQK this was pretty expected. Someone at Univision made a big mistake! 102.9 keeps pushing money giveaways and huge private concerts and still can't seem to get out of the whole! Meanwhile, Raul is in talks to come back on the air with SBS.

Anything leaking out about SBS plans for 92.1? Closing is just over three months away; you would think a programming and staffing structure is falling into place.

I am interested in learning about the thought process that led you to that conclusion. KLTN experienced a sampling problem that has resulted in an advantage for the Estrella Media stations. I do not believe that Raul is contributing to the decrease in ratings. Estrella Media has faced scrutiny regarding this same issue in various markets. I am not levying any accusations, but rather presenting an alternative perspective. I believe there may be something suspicious occurring. Perhaps David Eduardo can provide us with additional details and insights.

In my opinion, I believe that they aim to secure the necessary funds prior to making any decisions regarding staffing, office space, and overall format in the market. The market remains open for a Mexican regional station.

You are absolutely correct in what you have said. I am eager to read David Eduardos' perspectives on this subject matter.

Part of the issue is the sample, demonstrated by Nielsen's ongoing inability to get the Houston PPM accredited. Part is the move of brilliant Univision manager Mark Masepohl to Dallas and his replacement by a pure-TV person. Part is the fact that Bryndis was getting long in the tooth and just not entertaining to today's 25-49 Hispanics.

Really Mark? He's been gone for years and I see him having no impact here. Everyone else in management is still leading the boat.
The cluster started to decline as soon as he left. Now look how his station in Dallas is doing!

The "BMF show" taking over for Raul just doesn't hit the Houston market BMF they come off as trying too hard to be funny and end up feeling really cheesy. Some may beg to differ, but in my eyes, there is no distinction between the Free-guey show and the "BMF Show." Once more, Spanish is not my first language, but I have enough knowledge and fluency to understand.

My observation was that SBS is starting to face a shrinking window for getting a new operation and format ready, as closing is supposed to happen July 1. The transfer process will have been dragged out for nine months after FCC approval by that time; RO/SST will have to file a second Extension of Consummation with the FCC by April 9 to get to that point.

Other than Christmas time, has KSBJ ever had numbers this high?
This is the largest share in the station's history, and last month's 7.3 was the previous record high.
The only time they've been #1 in the overall 6+ ratings (with a 6.8 share) was in April 2021.
The station has has consistent year-round large listenership for the last thee years.

Think how well KSBJ could do on a full Missouri City stick.🤔😳

Perhaps that could be in the future. If Cumulus was to put KRBE on the block, would Hope Media Group go after it?🤯🤪

Aw, heck. If the sale closes, they can have a few days between signing and the end of the month and put together the format in a day or two. They can, at least temporarily if not permanently, use staff from Chicago, LA or San Francisco to voice track and use the PD from LA to supervise.

The FCC tends to be flexible when proof of work taking place can be presented. All SBS has to do is show that their financing fell through and now they have a settlement on that deal pending payment. The Commission is intolerant of BS, but very understanding of situations beyond a licensee's control.

I’m curious. Do the other KSBJ signals encode as KSBJ as well? I could see a station like KXBJ helping a bit
