Feder: 'CKG To Get "Fresh"; Bulls Bounce Back to 'MVP

http://www.suntimes.com/business/feder/626115,CST-FIN-feder30.article

An adult-contemporary music format geared to women between 25 and 54 is expected to be unveiled next week on WCKG-FM (105.9).

CBS Radio is keeping details under wraps, but...

But this means 105.9 will indeed be "Fresh". Even though the article doesn't allude to this branding, following the success of 102.7 in New York, this will be the case, you can take it to US Bank.

It did say, however, that Dave Robbins, currently in charge of US 99, will be doing double duty with 105.9 as well.

Also, Feder says the Bulls, in leaving 105.9, have found a new old home:

Bulls basketball, which aired last season on WCKG, will open the new season Wednesday on ESPN sports/talk WMVP-AM (1000), under a new five-year deal announced Monday.

I'm surprised that CBS couldn't have kept the Bulls in house, at least moving it to a station like WBBM, or moving the Blackhawks to BBM and the Bulls to The Score. I can't believe they would let that money get away.

Could this be a new home for the "Murphy in the Morning" show? That is if they can talk him out of retirement. Maybe JRL can land afternoons at the station.

The Bulls were just leasing time on the station, and doing production and selling ads themselves. The revenue generated from two hours on all-news WBBM is probably much higher than any Bulls game could pull in through the deal.

Supposedly the new deal is even worse for WMVP. The Bulls won't actually pay for airtime, rather, the station will be getting a lot of free tickets and promotions - if I've heard correctly.
