Feedback on 100.3 The Sound morning show

David, Glenn, ussr, et al... I'm sure you all know I'm a fan of AAA and I am happy that LA has a AAA station again. They've been on for 15 days now and they are probably searching for talent, etc.

Well, they have a "forum" of sorts on the website...had it since Day One. It got some posts ... maybe 15 posts per day and after a week the # of posts tapered off to maybe 5-7 per day. But not today. Today the forum was invaded by trolls....

Remember KYSR Star 98.7's morning show Jamie (White), Jack, and Stench?
Since the show was canned by 98.7, they've had a podcast with maybe a 1000 or so subscribers (for a fee). Well, on a podcast (maybe yesterday) Stench mentioned the new station The Sound and recommended it. Like locusts they swarmed in and there are maybe 100+ posts since this morning from these people (there might be around 20 or so different people, not 100 different ppl). In just about every post they are wanting The Sound to hire Jamie, Jack, and Stench (JJS) as a morning show. Thes folks say they like the music on The Sound, a few are from out of town and listen to The Sound stream, but those who are local to SoCal had no idea about the station until it was recommended to them on the JJS podcast. So they like the music but are passionate about JJS and are willing to give up the music for 4 hours of talk in the AM drive time. Yeh just what the station needs. Aside from the fact it would be hard to conceive Bonneville having a personality such as Jamie White on their airwaves in LA, do you think Bonneville would <gasp!!> hire them or have a morning show like Mark & Brian, or even like Kevin & Bean. Cripes I hope not. Since I can't be objective about it, do you think it would benefit Bonneville to have a morning team that has a following? Or have any type of talk show in AM drive? What impact if any on potential ratings would that have?

I sure hope they don't taint it with talk. ::)

I think its more likely Emmis will try to find a morning show that can get some ratings.

Jack is producing a morning show in San Diego, Stench is doing his show on Sirius, and Jamie...well who cares what shes upto. I dont think that they would give up those gigs to revive an old show with no numbers. that show will go no further than where it is now.

I too am very excited about this new station! JJ&S - not in this type of format... I don't think their previous ratings would earn them a shot. What Bonneville needs is a very strong morning show to help in carrying the rest of the day. This is something that neither KSCA nor Channel 103.1 had. (Sorry Nicole fans...). Someone with some solid L.A. radio history such as teaming Paraquat Kelly and Mary Turner would be great, or the husband and wife team of Paraquat and Melody Rogers. Then, hire Innesa (under utilized from KINK in Portland) for middays, John Grappone (formerly at KFOG and currently available) for afternoons, and Mimi Chen for evenings. How do I sign up for the P.D. gig?

SuperRadioFan -

I'm a big AAA fan and former 101.9 and 103.1 listener. I've been over on The Sound's forum fighting the good fight (I'm "John Paul" over there). Thanks for bringing this up here and getting some opinions from the resident experts.

The troll attack was quite disturbing over there - especially when I'm certain most of them don't really care about the music or the format...I'm sure they would have "invaded" anywhere there was an AM drive vacancy.

Anyhow, here's hoping AAA lasts this time. I know the odds are against it, but I'm going to enjoy every minute it's on! Hopefully I can go back to the forum soon!

Hey John Paul I only have a minute. What was your handle over at the YR? I was of course, SRF!!

SRF - I didn't post back then, only visited. I still have the KSCA archive link saved as one of my Favorites (http://www.honles.com/ffm/ksca-fm/menu.htm).

Good to know some of us are still around - I was enjoying participating on The Sound's new forum...until today! It's overrun now, so I'm staying away for the time being (too aggravating!)

ah, yes...nothing like an honest, intelligent discussion...
thanks "rapking".
