Feedback on a job

Hello RI board. I am new to this, however I was prompted to join because of an opening in South Bend. Artistic Media has a posting for a Market Manager. I was looking at appying for this position. I am on here for some feedback both good and bad about the company since they are not in my market or my state. I have not heard of them before. Are they a good company or a use and abuser? A long time stable management team or churn and burn? I have seen it all over the past 15 years and I am looking to get out of where I am now and land in Indy or South Bend to be closer to family.

Thanks.

I seriously doubt you will hear any positive feedback concerning AMP, especially if someone who works there, or has worked there, decides to respond. I have yet to hear anything GOOD about AMP from anyone.

I can second this. I have NEVER heard 1 positive thing about this company. Believe me, there is a reason they are looking to fill this position again.

I think the owner is personally a nice guy. He can't hear very well so he comes off more "gruff" than he really is. I've known many who have worked for AMP...and know a FEW who enjoyed the experience.

You can obviously SEARCH for previous posts about this company.

But keep in mind, most people that are content with their employer or enjoy their job usually aren't vocal.

AMP? Loved the place. Best job I ever had. Open honest ownership. You'll love working for the Angotti family.

Glad you had time to logon "Artie"--the company is one of the most unprofessional in the industry today.

Pretty sure Artie doesn't frequent the board. I believe you'll find a touch of sarcasm in the Lamb's post.

Take a job robbing old ladies as it might be a better social and mental experience. Just joking...

Seriously though. Consider a man who has placed his snobbish spoiled son in a position of authority over people who have lives apart from the Angotti clan. Power is not equally handled.Arti likes to display his authority and his ability to control or have power over people. A game, a tool, not sure. If he likes you you won't be a part of it, if he doesn't , run.

Check with the Panthers on their like of Art and Arti. They don't hire African Americans. Not because they don't like them, just never had the chance apparently.

Call Rick in Bloomington or anyone who has worked there for many years to get the full Rainbow WB experience.

Jobs are scarce. Get moved and get the money upfront. Some who haven't got the shaft. Don't sign a non compete. Start making contacts and update the resume. Act happy despite what happens. Don't confront the little weasel. IF you happen to meet a fictional weasel.

A question to ask Artistic, "How many times have you hired a GM for your South Bend stations?"

The main problem is that you have non-broadcasters who occasionally hire good broadcasters and then ignore their advice. They even ignore expensive research. If you want Michiana radio to improve, it will as soon as AMP sells their properties. One other poster's comment that if you are always positive and act like everything is great, you will survive there, mired in mediocrity, and the laughing stock of SB, but surviving. How is the "stream" doing anyway? Is it still more like a trickle...?

Answer: one more time. I understand that the position has now been filled by someone from a competitor in another AMP market.

Thanks for all of the posts. I did ask the one fateful quesiton how many MM's have you had to a couple of people in the building. Supposely, a high number if I took all of their answers and gave an average it would have come to 5 in the past two years. I find that really high except when One sales person replied that they couldn't remember except everytime Art came into town we were getting a new one. Don't know how true all of this was however the attitude that came through the phone conversations was pretty poor. I do feel sorry for some of those folks.

They talk bad about Art and AMP on this board. But, there is worse. In fact,
as far as station owners go, there is much much much much much worse.

Those who say Art is the worse haven't been around the block let alone the State of Indiana.

When you find out what bad really is, you will find Art is a nice guy.

UPDATE TO MY EARLIER POST: Last month's hire for this position has already been replaced by little Artie. Remember, this is AMP!!!
