Feedback on my station wanted

It's 10:45 NM time , i am listening..Jackson Brown......went into the CBS news...the sound is real good. I see the previously played list...nice mix of artists Like Ike and Tina, Chapin, Browne , Essex,.. I ilke deeper playlists, but, thats just me..the average commercial radio listener would love your station..on internet you playlist looks like everyone' else's ..to bring me back i would want to hear a deeper playlist....just went from the news to drifters .."up on the roof"..like I said your sound is good, now I am listening with headphones, the transition to and from the news was good, your liner was OK....now playing Marshall Tucker -Love Song.......one other thing drifters and Marshall Tucker don't sound like stereo versions... the jackson browne was in stereo..again for internet station I look for deeper playlists..understanding also the locker room space on 365 is limited and you have to constantly shuffling cuts in and out. Good luck keep up the good work..whoa....whoa...whoa as I was prepping to leave you are playing Bessie's Bank version of "Go Now" pre- moody blues, that's really impressive..ok I gotta go..

Thanks for giving a listen and for the feedback. That does bring up a question, would it sound better for me to "de-stereo" stereo songs rather than fold them down to mono? There's a really cool winamp plug that does that I can use.

I too would like a bit of feedback on my little dog and pony show..audio,playlist,jungles..etc..This is last nights show..shrink the window and click on the small box below it to start show from 6pm..If possible listen for at least 30 minutes to catch the spot breaks to get the idea..thanks.. http://www.livestream.com/therockbox

Could someone possibly take a little time to listen to my station on Live365? Mainly looking on feedback as regards the sound of the audio processing I switched to a day ago, but also interested in constructive criticism of all aspects. Fear not; you won't hurt my feelings.

Love the audio processing...clean, but with some serious presence.

I agree, though, that you're playing a lot of what people can get from terrestrial radio (I've just heard "Stairway To Heaven", "You Really Got Me", "Temptation Eyes" and "Mama Told Me Not To Come").

A bit better mix of eras (that was 1971-1965-1971-1970) would help. Try breaking the music into 3-year groups. Group A would be 1964-1967; Group B 1968-1971; Group C 1972-1975 and Group D 1976-1979. Then rotate something like A-C-B-D, and watch that when you've got a C and a B next to each other you're not playing adjacent years (in other words, play a 1973 and a 1970 or a 1974 and a 1969 rather than a 1972 and a 1971 back to back).

That'll create the appearance of more variety. But it's the Internet. Don't be afraid to go deep two or three times an hour.

Good luck!

I wish you could say the same for radio. :D

I know, it's that whole millions of dollars, dozens of jobs and stockholder equity thing.

Well what I'm hearing now is "I'd Like To Buy The World A Coke" ---I'd say that's the right kind of deep.
I like the sound I'm hearing!

Thanks, everyone. If anyone really wants to know what software I'm using for processing I'll give the information.
It's not any of the usual suspects, by the way, but it was worth every cent of the $40 I spent on it. Just don't ask me
to share my settings, it took me several hours to tweak one of the built-in presets. And yes, I am trying to deepen
the playlist a bit but some of the 45s I've played before have had serious tune-out issues associated with them.

I usually try for 5 shows a week but the weather outside has me stuck inside so I'm going to do a bonus show
in just a little while that should be up by mid-morning tomorrow.

Chuck:

You're amazing. You do that LIVE for 8 hours?

Phenomenal production values, a really interesting mix of music and great energy!

Thanks..no.just a four hour show Live on Friday nights from 6-10pm..Before I changed real jobs..lol..I did Fri and Sat 6-Midnight..sometimes longer due to audience response..had to cut back when I took a job that requires me to get up at 1 AM..However...come May I will retire to some extent..and possible be doing longer and or more shows...thanks for the listen.. 8)

Did I read this correctly? You used a CBS news feed on your station? If this is indeed the case, that's a no-no.

Also, I still say you need to put a URL link to your station, in your signature file. Simply advertising you have a station but not provifing a link to it makes it difficult to find.

Yes, I do use CBS radio news. Legally, for $19.95 a month through Spacial Audio. Licensed for internet. Any questions?

And I tried to add a signature whatever and can't figure out how. If anyone can talk me through it that'd be nice.

You have part of your signature already shown. Take a look at mine and see how I did it. I merely posted my station page URL. Just click on "Profile" and then "Forum Profile Information" and post your station page URL in the signature box.

You got it :)

Nice station Mark. I am with Michael as far as expanding your playlist to include lost top 40 hits. I give you plently of credit for doing this and I have saved your station and Roberts in my presets.

Superfan, thanks. I just uploaded last night's 3 hour show. It's a lot tighter than any of the others thus far. I added
some plate reverb and I hope that goes over well but if people feel it's not sounding right then I'll go back to producing
it "dry". I did drop in an increased number of forgotten hits and it did make the show better I think, so many thanks
to everyone who suggested that. All kidding aside, does anyone want to know what software processing I'm using?

You said Stereo Tool on the engineering board.
