Feels good

Last week WILV evolved into "Chicago's Feel Good Music"

although its not 100%, this morning I was listening to Melissa Forman on WLIT and she said "Chicago's FEEL GOOD station for the work day" after Prince - 1999

WLIT playing "1999?" WTF?

(And yes, I recall the thread over them playing "Rich Girl," complete with the Eve rap break.)

LOVE/LITE

Anyone notice when WLIT was doing their Flashback weekend, there were variations, and it more or less evolved as it went along? (AKA on air research, as someone on this board pointed out and most let it fly over their head.)

One weekend was more Jammin Oldies/Disco.
Another was more 70's/80s pop centered.
Another lost the Soul from Jammin' and was rock centered.

Regardless, the 1st few weekends was a great opportunity to to counter CBS's Jack (female version) and pick up where ZZN leaves off, targeting females.

What LOVE-fm is doing is at best not fine tuned yet, and playing a "Love FM" jingle into I'm Your Boogie Man by KC, is strange at the least. They are for sure capitalizing the 70's Disco and the late 60's early 70's Urban sounds. Will be interesting to see if they settle on one common positioner too.

LOVE-fm just beat LIT to the punch, pre-emptive move, just in case........ would have been interesting if LIT had jumped on this opportunity.

Re: LOVE/LITE

There's no research on it yet, they're doing it as they go along, many of the songs being played showed up low (if at all) in The Beat's research but it's interesting to listen to Guy evolve it. Hopefully the "Love" will be dropped to get it more in line with where it's going. A Rhythmic Jack. A COHESIVE FORMAT as opposed to one all over the place with no logic to it.

Lite's talking about a Jammin' Oldies styled format for their HD. Most of Clear Channel's HD initiative is a joke, as are most of the big wigs.

Pretty typical Clear Channel. Jump on someone's new slogan
a) to confuse the audience (does it work?); and b) to piss off
the competitor (almost always works).

But typical Clear Channel techniques going back to the Randy
Michaels days.....traceable back to those, I'm sure, who
worked under Randy in the Jacor days.

What name do you think Love FM should have? Maybe just the calls? Sunny? Mix? Actually, isn't there already a Mix in Chicago?

As many of you know, most ACs have become much more upbeat (WLIT of course) and the names just don't seem to match anymore, depending on the station. Lite FM in New York City for example is ok since they still do play a good amount of "lite" songs, even though they are much more upbeat. Of course, CC wouldn't change the "Lite FM" brand name in New York since it is the number one station.

So, what name would be more appropriate for Love FM?

100.3 LOST-FM. We've been lost since Bonneville bought us!

It's all Jammin Oldies except for

Dan Hartman
Culture Club
Blondie
Bananarama
Tears For Fears
Phil Collins

among other 80s songs that I heard on there.

May as well call it 100.3 The Beat

I would have liked to see them try Gold/Soft AC like WTRV In Grand Rapids. Sounded sorta like that before this tweak. But it always had more rhythmic stuff in there.<P ID="signature">______________

Actually, Windy 100 was doing OK--they just got blind-sided in 2001 by the all-Christmas format at WLIT and have never recovered since. All-Christmas every holiday season is what saved 'LIT, as far as I'm concerned.
