Feels just like the old days

So Bob 93.3 is off the air right now for some reason. I punched over there and heard 93.3 WFLS and none other than Shelly Bynum voicing a promo.

Seeing that frequency on the radio and hearing his voice coming from the speakers sure took me back a good decade or so...

Bob was/is a poor shadow of the original Hot FM - 93DLX and even The Arrow - WERO
But alas, I've been informed that the station isn't targeted to me anymore. Bob is aimed at women (or girls) 12 to 35.

That's the perfect use for the monster signal in Eastern NC.

I sure miss Shelly, Mark, Gary and the crew....

I'm sure you're referring the BEAST Of The EAST billboards.
Spooky. But right on the mark.

I remember when 93.3 was like a Hot AC station in 1997-1999. It was pretty good. I miss it a little. Then they did a "spin the wheel format" stunt right before they changed over to top 40. It was right after hurricane Floyd hit. I remember driving around Edgecombe county to see how far I could go before running into closed roads because of high water. Funny how I remember how it coincides with that.

I do remember when it was a top 40 when it was WDLX, then it switched over a AC format in like 1990-91. The WDLX van would always be at the Down East festival.

Me, too. Was a great place!

(I did weekends there as Steve Taylor, while working FT on the OBX. Quite the drive every weekend, but I loved it!)

Yep, Beast Of The East... It was either 93 or Z103 Rocks The Coast that I was listening to

I used to listen to it as WERO The Arrow when I lived in Raleigh! Great format, and what a signal!

I was so proud that Eastern NC had a CBS licensed Arrow station. We also added the DoubleQ about this time, too.
And 93.3 parked it's famous DLX letters on WRRF 930, which was still selling out it's inventory.
Radio in Little Washington was rockin' back then!
