Feinberg On Kerry

Heard Feinberg's comments on WRKO Halloween night about Senator Kerry's moronic comments about the intellect of those in the military. Even if Kerry meant the remarks to be a jab at the President, even if he was not insulting people in uniform, it came out wrong.

He also had on these two folks from a soldiers' families group, who spouted off about how the real issue is we're in a war we don't belong in, yadda yadda. They just couldn't bring themselves to accept the idea that Kerry incinuated that soldiers are unintelligent.

Not a word I spell every day, Joe. Do not make assumptions about my intelligence just because I think John Forbes Kerry is a fraud.

I thought you liberals were all about letting opposing views see the light of day......? ;D But I digress....

I'm glad Feinberg talked about Kerry and his elitist comments on his program tonight. And I hardly agree with anything he (Feinberg) says, either.

Opposing views? What a refreshing thought. Talk to Rush Limbaugh, take two advil, then...pray.

We Progressives do believe in opposing views; when you find one of your own, not on the Republican Talking Points list, please post it here. thanks.

Words To Die For ? ? ?

DULCE ET DECORUM EST

Wilfred Owen
(1893 - 1918)

BENT DOUBLE, LIKE OLD BEGGARS UNDER SACKS.
KNOCK-KNEED, COUGHING LIKE HAGS, WE CURSED THROUGH SLUDGE
TILL ON THE HAUNTING FLARES WE TURNED OUR BACKS,
AND TOWARD OUR DISTANT REST BEGAN TO TRUDGE.
MEN MARCHED ASLEEP. MANY HAD LOST THEIR BOOTS,
BUT LIMPED ON, BLOOD SHOD. ALL WENT LAME, ALL BLIND;
DRUNK WITH FATIQUE; DEAF EVEN TO THE HOOTS
OF GAS-SHELLS DROPPING SOFTLY BEHIND.

GAS ! GAS ! QUICK BOYS - AN ECSTASY OF FUMBLING,
FITTING THE CLUMSY HELMETS JUST IN TIME,
BUT SOMEONE STILL WAS YELLING OUT AND STUMBLING
AND FLOUND’RING LIKE A MAN IN FIRE OR LIME.
DIM THROUGH THE MISTY PANES AND THICK GREEN LIGHT,
AS UNDER A GREEN SEA, I SAW HIM DROWNING.

IN ALL MY DREAMS BEFORE MY HELPLESS SIGHT
HE PLUNGES AT ME GUTTERING, CHOKING, DROWNING.

IF IN SOME SMOTHERING DREAMS, YOU TOO COULD PACE
BEHIND THE WAGON THAT WE FLUNG HIM IN,
AND WATCH THE WHITE EYES WRITHING IN HIS FACE,
HIS HANGING FACE, LIKE A DEVIL’S SICK WITH SIN,
IF YOU COULD HEAR, AT EVERY JOLT, THE BLOOD
COME GARGLING FROM THE FROTH - CORRUPTED LUNGS,
BITTER AS THE CUD, OH VILE, INCURABLE SORES ON
INNOCENT TONGUES,

MY FRIEND, YOU WOULD NOT TELL WITH SUCH HIGH ZEST
TO CHILDREN ARDENT FOR SOME DESPARATE GLORY
THE OLD LIE:

DULCE ET DECORUM EST PRO PATRIA MORI
IT IS SWEET AND GOOD TO DIE FOR ONE’S COUNTRY.

Just a reminder to those out there who don't follow politics too closely that your pal Kerry is on the ballot
this year and needs your vote (ssh! don't tell them it's a "different" Kerry, though THIS Kerry also
made-money-the-old-fashioned-way-by marrying it). Don't Blame Me, I'm Voting For Kerry :)
JFKerry, btw, is my favorite comedian (can I get me a huntin' license here?) and will be REALLY popular
with fellow Dems should his comment result in the Dems only getting one House of Congress, or neither.

>>A Democratic Congressional candidate from Iowa is canceling a campaign event later this week with Senator John Kerry. Brucy Braley says Kerry's recent comments about the Iraq war were inappropriate.

...YOU RANG?

My views are mine only. I vote the issue, not the candidate . Do not bring the hypocrite Limbaugh into this discussion. "Progressives" take high-and-mighty attitudes as though everything they say MUST be correct just because they wrap themselves in the party of - alleged - open minded thinking. Joe, I have no problem with you personally, but I think your approach to discussing the issues needs some fine tuning.

Ahhh, never talk Politics or Religion - the endless catch 22.

"Fine tuning"? Kerry's right, we are so fed up with the "approach" to discussion that has been thrust upon us by Howie Carr (in the minor league), Hannity, Ingraham, etc. Amusing you say two things to try to shift the conversation:

a)Do not bring the hypocrite Limbaugh into this discussion

b)my "approach" needs fine tuning

That is not argument or discussion when you dictate the terms; all I'm doing is defending John Kerry

You are free to state your belief. I can laugh at Infidel's remark, which I consider ludicrous and straight out of the Howie Carr playbook.

Both Clinton (Bill) and Kerry (John) have put a zap into the politics that was missing when Swift Boats did their public perjury thing and when Gore distanced himself from Clinton at the request of the Republican rhetoric.

My approach is fine...that is...if you go for professional opinion. Keep in mind, I'm upfront that it is my opinion.

insinuated is how it is intelligently spelt; Kerry did a great thing today. Bravo. Encore.

a wacky exit strategy for a politician. something you'd expect from a flunky cable access show host, not a seasoned politican.

I guess Kerry said on Imus that he "forgot the punch line".

>>His office said he neglected to add the punch line

I can imagine Kerry on the campaign trail, speaking to a group of musicians: "By the way, how do you get to
Carnegie Hall?"

Musicians...look puzzled. Some try to give directions. They don't know what he means.
Next day: "Oh, I'm sorry if I botched the joke. I forgot the punch line. 'Practice, man...Practice' See?"

>>ended his political career

Ended his Presidential aspirations, maybe, but he could very well get re-elected to Senate in '08. He'll
declare for Presidency and tap into more of Lovey's money, get beaten badly in the first few primaries,
then decide he wants to run for Senate after all (he has till May of '08 to file papers I believe). Unless
a really strong Rep. candidate (in THIS state??) opposes him, he's a shoo-in.

Wouldn't it be funny if the current Lt. Gov.,whether she wins election to governorship or not, were to
run against him in '08 for Senate? Kerry vs. Kerry!

I love what Kerry did; apologizing on Imus is not going to get him votes for President, but we'll keep him as Senator.

Clinton has already told Kerry that it is HILLARY'S CAMPAIGN. Kerry is just igniting the base as Bill did on Fox!

Ed Schultz is on a tear right now! Great radio.

The Army has lowered its standards for recruitments. It also offers now GED, and a great signing bonus. Surely, we are not getting the best and brightest. Do they ever recruit in Weston, Needham, Wellesley?? I say no. But, they do recruit in the poor, blue collar areas. Kerry, was on target about an education. Many are also promised citizenship and also for their families.

he apologized today. he may have been coerced into it by other democrats, but he did the right thing. a tip of the cap to the state's junior senator. i hope radio pundits gave him kudos for that. tomorrow, i'll go back to bashing him, but this was good form on his part.

He only apologized because the Democrats don't want him running for president and made it clear he'd better stick to his seat in the Senate. That's what this is all about. Kerry hit a grand slam and the powers that be pulled him back. He already had his chance.

No Joe what he did was moronic and killed his chances of any future political advancement. Though I have never heard how that joke was supposed to work if he did flub it he could have mitigated almost all damaged by immediately apologizing to anyone he had offended. Instead he let his own arrogance get in the way and retaliated against the attacks immediately launched by the opposition. I and most have no problem with fighting off attacks but what he lost sight of was that "he" caused the initial attack and that he hurt far more people than the ones that where now attacking him. Even if he felt he had to fight back he needed to first apologize and then make sure his return volley didn't compromise his genuine regret. The only thing that's keeping him alive political is his own outstanding service record offsetting most of this damage. I think his political future is now much like Ted's. He will continue to be able to be a political voice in the blue states and can get himself re-elected here in Massachusetts over and over again. The difference he still has with Ted is he is no where near as effective a senator. What he just lost with his slow forced apology was all the red states which he needs for any future presidential aspirations. He has always had a problem with his arrogance, his lack of understanding of the common man and this time It really got the best of him.

::)

While I think most broadcasters probably 'admire' Kerry for apologizing for the insensitive remark...it clearly points out how a 'slip of the tongue' can become THE KISS OF DEATH! There are quite a few 'news nazis' who will print or verbally repeat "any dirt on anybody!"

What scares me more is if Hilary decides to run for president in 08?

This would definitely be a case of 'permitting one of the lunatics to leave the asylum!!!'

Rubbish!

What he did was continue his legacy of slandering the troops, who deserve no less than our ultimate praise and admiration.

Even IF he was trying to make a jab at President Bush, which is unlikely, then saying that the President got them stuck in Iraq is by definition saying that the troops are stuck in Iraq. More than a few serving in Iraq would beg to differ.
