Felger and Mazz multi year extension at 98.5

Nicely done Sports Hub! cool

I can't believe that the powers that be on Guest Street thought that a switch bringing Holley was a good counter for them lol

Sports Hub has the advantage of people being able to tune to them right away after a Sox game/loss
(like today)--F&M-- instead of having to wait through the postgame show on the Sox net. Getting reaction
right away. Similar to when I visited a friend in Cle.; we went to Tribe game...as we drove back,
we tuned to post-Indians talk on WKNR 850 as WTAM 1100 was doing post game (plus the talent
on 850 was better)

I'm sure that 0-6 record to start the season will certainly give the Hubbers something to jabber about... ::)

The nut cases have been out in force this week. I don't recall ever hearing this level of craziness. I think both stations should adopt a new rule: anyone who uses the term FranCOMA should be banned from calling forever.

co-signed. The only time I switch over to WEEI is when there's too much hockey talk (not a fan). Best show on Boston sports radio.

Felger and Best should never be said on the same day let alone same sentence.
I watched about 15 minutes of a baseball show that Felger was on, on CSNE the other night. I really have to wonder if Felger ever even played wiffle ball in the school yard. He knows virtually nothing about baseball. The extent of Felger's baseball knowledge is, you hit a ball and run somewhere. I also doubt if he ever played HORSE in some neighbor kid's driveway. He knows even less about basketball. I'll take people's word for it that he knows hockey, because I don't like hockey.

If I listen to a financial show, I expect the host to know something about finances, the same would hold true for automotive, home improvement etc. This guy's entire basis for being on the air is to make preposterous statements and get noticed.

Ideal?

hmm...

Some kind of combination of Mutnansky, Holly, Arnold, Adams (if properly corralled and not "goofy" Mikey).

Yes I know none work for 98.5, so if you'd like my ideal show from 98.5 it would probably be some combination of Mazz, Hardy, DA.

But really, you could list 100 sports talk talkers across the country and I'd put Felgie #100.

He's the worst combination, a know it all that proves time and time again that he actually knows very little.

Yes he gets ratings / a rise out of people / people talking / etc cause he's strong willed / a contrarian / etc.

I get it...and that's why he keeps getting chances, though he's still yet to hold down a radio job for more than a few years.

We'll see if this one actually lasts.

I don't get the fascination with Mutnansky. He's certainly not obnoxious, but what does he bring to the table? I didn't really get why he was even given the weekend gig over some others, never mind the mid-day show. I've tried to listen to the show several times, but it sounds like Merloni, who I'm sure was one of the "cool guys" all his life, putting up with a nerd. And a nerd trying desperately to be hip and cool and it's not working.

Is there any "inside" reason(other than the low paycheck) that Mutnansky is held in high esteem? Is he related to someone?

I think the new show is taking a while to catch on, and their dynamic together isn't there yet.

But I loved him when he first started as a part timer and even listened to his NH show anytime I was near/over the border.

I think he's a star, and it'll eventually shine through.

That's what I don't get. What are you, along with someone at Entercom, hearing that I'm missing? He's not that knowlegeable. He's not an ex-player. As far as I know he's never been a beat writer for a major newspaper or done play by play. His voice is average at best. He's not particularly funny and he usually falls flat when he tries to be. He's trying to act like he's a long time old buddy of Merloni, but that's not working.

He seems like a pleasant enough fellow, who's been given a gigantic break in his career, but what do you hear that makes him, in your words, a star? Why is John Ryder not a star? How about John Risch or Rob Bradford, or Pork Chop Haggerty? Or, for that matter, any of these no-name flash boys? I'm not trying to be a wise guy, I really don't get it.
