Felger.........host of the Baseball Show??????

I just caught the end of a blurb on WEEI. Apparently the D&C show, with the DB hosting ran until after 10 this AM. I turned it on just in time to hear that Felger, "Mr. Baseball", himself will be hosting the WEEI baseball show this season. Felger knows nothing about baseball (or basketball, for that matter). He has been humiliated by Sean McAdam, Peter Gammons, and dozens of callers when he attempts to interject himself into a baseball discussion. They play these excerpts as "Whiner Line" opens. It sounds to me as if he never even played wiffle ball in the school yard.

I guess that Jason Wolfe giveth and taketh away. He got rid of the hideous Mustard and Johnson show, but is now determined to ruin the Baseball Show. Last year he had the alternating hosts, which was not as good as it had been, but the show still was decent. It will never survive Felger. Felger's ratings were invisible at ESPN radio. The poor signal was not the only reason. Everyone has heard Felger's act. He makes outrageous statements to 1) get himself noticed and 2) cover up his lack of knowledge. He screams into the microphone like an amateur, because he is an amateur.

I just don't understand why they would do this. Even Meterparel would be more qualified.

Makes me wonder why Fox 25 newsbabe Sara Underwood (Mrs. Michael Felger) stays married to this (bleep). I heard something about "dancing" on Fox 25 this morning; I wouldn't mind Sara doing some "dancing" for me, if you know what I mean! ;)

If you want opinionated yet KNOWLEDGEABLE sports talk.... I'm Just Sayin' with Danny Picard.

Premiered today at 4PM on WBNW AM 1120 Boston's Talk Variety!

Felger is hosting because it is being simulcast on Comcast SportsNet, plain and simple. Each side (CSN/WEEI) contributes two guys...even though all four do have semi-regular WEEI gigs already...Felger and "exclusive baseball analyst" Lou Merloni are the CSN guys, McAdam and Buckley are the EEI guys. If they do it right, Felger's just going to serve as the facilitator and let Merloni, McAdam, and Buckley provide the actual baseball insight and analysis.

Felger is not a Boston baseball [EDIT] so he will play the role of facilitator and heel.

He will do this much better than Mikey ever did because he loves the team too much. Besides, I don't think McAdam and Buckley wanted to put up with another summer of Manny-bashing since, you know, he no longer plays in Boston.

keep in mind that Felger's persona is an on-air persona.. his role is to be the contrarian... besides, regarding Sara, it just sounds like you're jealous :p

I agree, though, that it definitely weakens the show

Merloni, Buckley, McAdam, and Felger..........this reminds of the old Imus bit, "Which doesn't belong and why?" Let's hope that McAdam repeats his ledgendary beat down of Felger every time he says something stupid. That could be entertaining.

I got the impression that Buckley and McAdam didn't have a lot of patience with Mike Adams (who, despite the clowning, knows a lot about baseball). I can't see them putting up with Felger for long until there's open antagonism. Maybe they think that will be good radio. I can't stand Felger, but I might listen if I think they're going to crap all over him. There's no chance of this being a serious baseball show with Felger hosting.

Does anyone know the official, or not-so-official, reasoning for the removal of Adams from the show?
Adams said on his regular show that he simply asked to be removed from the show because he wanted his weekends free to spend with his family.

My take is that he was removed due to his affiliation with NESN. He has a regular guest appearance on Sportsdesk and he may have chosen that over hosting the baseball show on CSN.
