Felger on WEEI ??

Is he really though? I can think of some prics on Boston radio, and Felger isn't one of them. Though I don't really ever see him being on 'EEI.

I suspect that 'EEI (it would appear, mistakenly) never took him seriously. He was kind of a joke on on 'EEI. He earned the nickname D.B. by constantly being the contrarian. When he would guest host on the Big Show, the whiner line would be a fifteen minute stream of insults hurled at Felger. He had a show on another Boston station(the Zone???) for a couple years that had no ratings at all, so 'EEI probably didn't regard him as a threat. I've never listened to his new show, but from what I read on this and other boards he hasn't changed. This time the act is a hit. I'm sure the Bruins winning for the first time in 40 years helped.

I suspect that a lot of the current success is because the Big Show had really gotten stale. It seemed like they weren't even trying anymore. There were weeks where Larry Johnson would be on two or even three times. They were just too lazy to get any better co-hosts. During fotball season they were inundated with Smerlas and Deossie.

Unless Felger's learned a lot, and based on the remark that Sean McAdam mad about him on the Baseball Show, I suspect he hasn't, he knows nothing about baseball. Not only does he not know anything about basketball, but he has great disdain for it. Yet somehow in the home of the Red Sox and Celtics, he has a high rated sports show. Go figure.

Felger may have been on the Zone but I know he was on the ill-fated ESPN 890. Did a search:
in July of 08 he left 890 and the Herald to join WEEI.com

>>Shots has confirmed that Felger is all done with ESPN 890. Sidekick Kevin Winter is hosting the show today and 890 is promising forthcoming news on a new line-up at the station (and they are refuting our claim that this is a death knell for the under-performing outfit).

(Sports Hub debuted in August of 2009. ESPN 890/1400 ended a month later, with the ESPN
affiliation going to WEEI in time for baseball playoffs in Oct.) When ESPN moved to WEEI,
the Fox Sports Radio affiliation went to Sports Hub, who had briefly been carrying Sporting
News Radio (now known as Yahoo!Sports Radio)_

Chad Finn's article about ESPN 890/1400 shutting off mentioned that supposedly WEEI
would be "intending to move to an FM station within months...ESPN Radio would then take over the 850 spot on the dial. The new ESPN 850 station would then be affiliated with the ESPN Boston website, which launches Monday."
As it turned out, WEEI's FM move would take _24 months_ (9/12/09), and the "all-ESPN 850" part
never did happen.
