Felt sorry for Sue Shilling the othernight

Tuesday night when I turned on my car, and for some reason 610 was on, instead of 94.1. The Phillies game was on 94.1, so 610 was talk on its own. Sue Shilling was the host, and man she must've had one of those doing a show with nobody listening type feelings. She kept giving out the numbers, asking people to call in and give their opinions about the Phillies or whoever. Asking for BBQ advice on whats good to cook, but nobody called. I listened, and listened waiting for a single caller. I would've called myself, but my cell phone broke. After an hr+ of her almost begging, but still no calls I finally gave up, cause without any interactions she was kinda left repeating the same stuff every 15 minutes. I'm kinda surprised none of the staff didn't just produce some fake calls.

At least she's getting paid. There are thousands of people in Philly that would love to be in that position.

As for the staff, they were probably watching the game themselves.

This may have been discussed here before so I may have missed the logical explanation, but I see no logical explanation in this thing where 610 goes on their own when WIP-FM is airing a game. Is anyone even listening to WIP-AM anymore with the nice, clean FM signal? Why doesn't 610 AM do a totally new format?

WIP can double dip on the advertising when Phillies games are on. With regular scheduled programing on 610, all their daily sponsors get charged, all while 94.1 & 1210 have the Phillies. Take a listen to 610 during a Phillies game. They take just as many breaks, for just as long (5 minutes or so) as they do when 94WIP is talk. Compare that to overnights when 94WIP has 1 or 2 breaks per hr, for about a minute (& often filled with PSA's).

So it doesn't matter to them that barley anyone is listening. An afternoon game is still bringing drivetime money ontop of what they make off the Phillies games.

Where I live in Delaware, 94.1 has a really bad signal. So I listen to 610, which has a very good signal. Its as simple as that. When the Spanish version of Phillies baseball is on 1480, that signal is stronger and cleaner than 94.1!

Yeah I experienced that first driving to Ocean City, MD for Memorial Day. 94's signal pretty much crapped out as I got into Rehoboth Beach. I tried to switch over to the AM station out of the Jersey Shore that's simulcasting WIP and that didn't work either. There's an ESPN Radio station out of Virginia that also broadcasts on 94.1 that fights with WIP down in that area.

I guess someone has to hold down the fort until Nick & Artie come in off the bird at 10 PM...
