Just moved back here, checking out the post here, and wondered, who are ya'lls fav female DJ's around here.
WIMZ's got Phyllis, who I think at times sounds bored to be there.
WQUT has 3, Jeri George, Misty Reed, and Kim Stone.. Some say they sound alot alike, maybe the same person etc.
WKOS has Dee Stevens, who could wear your last nerve out!
then there is Taylor, at WTFM..."yawn"
Winnie at K-Rock, who ranks up there with Dee.
That's about all I have caught since being back.
Personally I like the 3 at WQUT. They sound more like they enjoy being there, without wearing out my nerves and rambling on.
Fill me in on more, I would like to hear them, and some input on your favs!
Edited by boo2u on 07/05/05 11:31 PM.

Phyllis West on WIMZ is great at night. She took a little getting used too because when she first started she messed up alot, but hey, I have no room to talk. If it were me in her shoes, I guess my first few nights on air at a different radio station would be scary too.

Ashley Adams does mornings by herself on Oldies 95.7/106.7 and she does an incredible job holding down a morning show all by herself. She's more less a Knoxville legend. She's been on the radio since I was a kid.

We've got Delilah on B-97 (Yawn....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

Let's see, Gina Haas does The River's morning show with Phil Williams. She's pretty good - she's come a long way since she first started.

Then there's Coleen on WIVK but country's not really my cup of tea.

The Knoxville market is lacking in female dj's right now. Of course Knoxville radio is lacking in alot of areas right now.

Ginger at Electric is in my opinion the BEST in the Tri-Cities. She's a true professional, and her talent shines through.

Yeeeeah BUT, I think she's still being stifled at Electric.
If she was let loose a tad more, you'd really see sumpin.
Out,

You are so correct Herr Spindoctor. She and Izzy are being gagged to death.

You can hear it when you listen. It's as if they are ready to explode.

I don't know who the culprits are up there that have put the hack bits in their mouths. They should just let them loose....but alas, all morning talent in this market have their hands tied behind their backs.

I'd agree with that 100%. I wish Phil would let her do more in the morning. Let Gina get her shine (lil hip-hop lingo for ya).

Isn't that a shame, though?

The local radio personalities in the Tri-Cities are so sterilized it makes them almost difficult to listen to.

WXBQ did that parody on Pete Paduch to the tune of the theme to The Dukes of Hazzard and it was front page news on the Johnson City Press. Now, it was a good bit, but rather par for the course when you consider what is being said and done in other markets.

The fact that somebody does a song parody and that's considered front page news, well, that's the reason why Tri-Cities radio tends to be such a snoozefest.

Somebody bashed me for trying to get a discussion of local radio hosts going, saying nobody cares.

Well, when you have the instituted blandness you do in the Tri-Cities, why would anyone listen to you?

What gets me is that jocks are hired for their flair, improv and
energy, once hired they have a wet blanket and a bowl of pissed-in
wheaties thrown at them. Don't expect a jock (especially mornings)
to be excited about friggin' LINERS!
This is prevalent in just about EVERY Tri-Cities station!
Somebody prove me wrong, please.
Is there not a station in the TC that is willing to let the jocks
do the job they were hired for?
I'll betcha the answer is a big, flat, bland NO!
I'm here in Asheville and I listen to Ace & TJ out of Charlotte on my way
into my station. Spontaneous radio. That's what's missing in the TC.
Prove me wrong.

I disagree. Give her an airshift to herself. Phil is at his best when left to his own devices. I'd rather he and David do the show, they were great on the old River before Frank joined.

GOD!! Well thanks for that! Here's how it is, you get up, you come to work and
you do the best you can with what you got and most importantly... you gotta do what "they" tell you to! Please remember it's hard to go from being with a partner to being all ALONE! It takes some getting used to, what do you suggest I do to make it better??!! No...nevermind...now I don't have the will to even turn the mic on. Thanks again, love to hear your show sometime...Winnie
