Female Engineers

Are there any "lady engineers" working out there? This question is courtesy of my sister, a former auto technician.

WPRI-TV/WNAC-TV's assistant chief engineer is a female, and WTNH-TV/WCTX-TV's Chief Engineer is female, they also have another female on the engineering staff.

Sam, you need to create a board on RI for picking up dates. Maybe you could call it "Buca needs a date" ;)

I met two types of female engineers in my 20 years. There were some who were completely clueless and many who could run circles around the rest of us. No in-between.

LOL! You SURE you want a radio engineer for a girlfriend?? It's bad enough to have "performance anxiety" at home, then you've have to worry that she'd think your transmitter installation was sloppy and poorly-documented! Eeek!

Better than her thinking my special alone time in the bathroom after a big dinner was sloppy and poorly documented.

But then again, she might get jealous of the female ARC-16 voice always calling me and I certainly won't tolerate her having a male voice from the VRC2000 calling. I'll write up new firmware called PAT (Patented Asexual/Transgender) that sounds both male and female. Is it patricia or patrick? We'll never know.<P ID="signature">______________

I was going to say the same exact thing...

OMG Sam! That's disgusting!

We got our first ARC-16 units back around 1992 or so. Originally the voice was male. A short time later it was changed to female. I never did ask about why the change was made. Perhaps the box was a transsexual? :)

The original telephone interface in the ARC16s used a Digitalker style speech synthesizer...it was the same as used in early talking toys...(Mattel used it quite a bit)..the later ESI (Enhanced Speech Interface) has a different speech chip that plays back prerecorded words..the female voice was found to be better understod so they went with that (most voicemail systems have female prompts)
Thank goodness they did!
