Real 92.3 is essentially a reincarnation of 92.3/100.3 The Beat. So in a way, they are continuing their rivalry, or more accurately, resumed it back in 2015.92.3 The Beat and Power 106 would've continued a rivalry to today.
I think Real 92.3 flipping to hip-hop was Clear Channel reviving that. Saw a demo they could swoop in and fight to win. And honestly, they did win.
Which on the surface looks like Real and Power are in a three way tie with class A, K-Day… Hey that rhimes. It looks like the latter has a longer tsl.Real 92.3 is essentially a reincarnation of 92.3/100.3 The Beat. So in a way, they are continuing their rivalry, or more accurately, resumed it back in 2015.
I’m a KDAY supporter as well but I like to be current so I listen to Real 92.3 as well.In fairness, I'm a KDAY guy. But I'm not as young as I think I am.
You can never go wrong with KDAY. That station and 94.7 The Wave merged into one would be pretty much my ideal playlist. In fairness, I'm a KDAY guy. But I'm not as young as I think I am.
Yeah you’re right you can’t go wrong with KDAY or 94.7 The Wave. You can never go wrong with KDAY. That station and 94.7 The Wave merged into one would be pretty much my ideal playlist.
Ironically, it seems that Real 92.3 is a slightly more Rhythmic-sounding than Power 106. Real added "BMF" by SZA (which is a dance-pop song as opposed to her R&B records like "Snooze" and "Saturn"), while Power is still more on the hip-hop side. Real also plays Bad Bunny recurrents more than Power 106.Yeah you’re right you can’t go wrong with KDAY or 94.7 The Wave.
For real? KIIS FM was the main station to play “BMF” but it’s nice to see it crossover to urban.Ironically, it seems that Real 92.3 is a slightly more Rhythmic-sounding than Power 106. Late 2000s/early 2010s Power 106 would've been added this song. For real? KIIS FM was the main station to play “BMF” but it’s nice to see it crossover to urban.
To my pleasant surprise, I'm actually finding myself enjoying quite a few curents (songs that were hot within the last year or so) more now than I have in quite a wbile with Kendrick and SZA's tracks (Luther, Euphoria, 30 For 30, Saturn, Snooze, Peekaboo, TV Off, Not Like Us, Squabble Up), Residuals by Chris Brown, Timeline and Cry For Me by The Weekend (the former was produced by The Neptunes), Redrum by 21 Savage, Whatever She Wants by Bryson Tiller, and the new track by Bow Wow and Chris Brown "Use Me" (which samples "Down 4 U" by Ja Rule). For real? I agree that there is some great rhythmic/urban music that is out right now and Real 92.3 is embracing it at the moment. BTW remember Eastsidaz “G’d Up”? 92.3/100.3 The Beat and Power 106 stayed playing that joint back in late 1999/early 2000. It came up on my random shuffle this morning.
KDAY still plays that in rotation. I also remember "I Luv It" (2001) being big on both of those stations. I keep my phone's playlist on shuffle most of the time as well and both of these songs are in my playlist too.I agree that there is some great rhythmic/urban music that is out right now and Real 92.3 is embracing it at the moment. That makes two of us, but at least we'll always have our memories from our childhood to cherish. The 90s and 2000s really was a non-stop party.Damn you just took me back to elementary school with that song. I remember hearing “I Luv It” in heavy rotation on both 100.3 The Beat and Power 106 during 2001-2002. I miss those days so bad.
That's a punch-out for me. I want rap music. Not pop crossovers.Real added "BMF" by SZA
"BMF" is by an R&B artist, so it's not really that farfetched that Real 92.3 would play this track even if it's a pop-leaning tune. And quite honestly, this one blends more with the overall playlist than the Bad Bunny songs. Also, Real played "Latch" by Disclosure when the station first debuted in 2015. And they've played Bruno Mars "24K Magic" and "That's What I Like" back in 2017.That's a punch-out for me. I want rap music. Not pop crossovers.
Guess that's why I keep ending up at KDAY.
My ideal playlist would be a combination with all three of those stations combined, with The Wave thrown in as well.I find myself tuning into KDAY cause Real & Power keep playing those dumb kendrick lamar hits a bit too much, he overhyped y'all, and i am more of a classics guy anyways but I do enjoy Real & Power like the talk on Power is chill and Yo the Top Dog Law ads are the best
As long as the station don't resort to playing stuff like Billie Eilish or Dua Lipa, Real 92.3 is fine just the way it is.That's a punch-out for me. I want rap music. Not pop crossovers.
