Final hours of Energy

till this day im still in disbelief that today is the final day of Energy 92.7/101.1. It's deja vu all over again with Energy Chicago, but I have to say for 6 years serving the phoenix area they did a hell of a job keeping us energized even though their coverage was unable to serve the entire Phoenix area. To Sierra H and Beau Duran, thanks a bunch for the beat of arizona! We won't forget Arizona's Dance Radio!

This station was a class act over the air from start to finish with a wonderful, interesting and different niche format for the Valley. It will be missed greatly.

With the departure of Energy, Phoenix becomes just another radio market, indistinguishable from Boise, Atlanta, or anywhere else.

Yes I agree, Energy was something different and made the valley radio unique for sure. I heard Lysa D on the air last night mixing and brought back memories.

Does anyone have the ability to record the stream today? I would love to get some of the final hours of Energy recorded.

Good Bye Energy - You will be missed more than the ratings ever showed

If you are at a computer during the final hours...you can download a free Web stream recorder from http://www.freecorder.com. It installs into your browser's toolbar, and you can record directly to MP3 format. Very easy to use.

I lived in Arizona for several years and I have to say Energy was a diamond among the coals. Dance music isn't my forte but I really always respected what the station did and I really did enjoy the Legal Id's and imaging that were just as unique as the station (voiced by Harry Legg).

I know both 101.1 and 104.3 have been many different formats - The Loop, The Blaze, etc etc but really a niche format like Energy is the best thing for that stick, from the current transmitter site or not...

Best of luck to the staff both remaining and departing and maybe someday, somewhere, Energy will be reborn on another fringe station.

So any leaks on the new format?

I heard a short spot at 5:15 p.m. "Monday, the valley will get to know Jack."

Don't think the "Jack" means anything, because they are throwing out different radio station names after each song.

Earlier, they said something about "a whole new Country" or something like that.

At 5:20pm, they said "A new mountain is coming to the Valley, Monday morning at 9:27"

Listening to the final hour of enegy that i recorded because i was at work... i have to give props to Beau Duran. What a class act. Being a radio geek myself, I think he did a great job with this sign-off. He gave the loyal listeners fair warning, brought back the jocks that helped shape the station, and gave props to energy chicago that helped launch energy az in the 1st place. he just replayed the launched of energy from back in 2002. thank you beau! i'll be looking forward to recording the launch of your new station on monday!!

if anyone could post the last hour of energy to a file hosting site and post the link here that would be really cool.

in my case i was finishing up some work and therefore only heard the last 10 minutes of Energy AZ. For the record, the last track was Depeche Mode "Enjoy the Silence." Very fitting.

During the day, Pistol Pete mentioned that his favorite dance track from Energy was DB Boulevard "Point of View." I would have to agree that this has to easily be the best Dance track recorded in the last 10 years.

One of the pro musicians who called in pointed out that in order for Dance music to succeed nationally the clubs and the radio must sync up and play the same songs the other does.

He also mentioned that one of the main reasons Disco was so successful was because it was centered around SONGS and it wouldn't be a bad idea for the dance industry to embrace SONGS if it wishes to reach national acceptance. I agree: Listen to the latest hip-hop track from The Game. It has a message, it speaks to people. Much more than the present hottest dance track which basically says "What club is this, who cares, it'll be ok, just dance." Great track, but will it be remembered long term, and does it speak to people on a day-to-day, core level? NO.

Didn't Y95 also sign off with a Depeche Mode song? If so, was it also "Enjoy the Silence"?

Well said! Thank you, Beau, for giving the Energy staff, the dance music industry, AND the listeners a chance to say farewell.

I was scrambling to find some way of record their Jetcast (WMA) stream, but couldn't find anything quick enough (thanks for the tips earlier in this thread). Does anyone have the previous days show recorded and especially Oct 31? I'm very anxious to hear it as I was unable to tune in yesterday!

Goodbye Energy - it was nice knowing ya - you will be missed!

aaa is a better format for listeners in the 101.1 coverage area, imo.
