Finally a business that has Cat Country on

Browser Books in that strip mall on the left as you drive in to the Showcase in Seekonk...the one opposite the plaza with Kohl's, TJ Max, etc. Now those of you dissatisfied with the music you hear, go there. You'll broaden your music tastes & you can even buy a book & broaden your mind.

I'm just glad to hear that Seekonk has a book store again.

And there should be a store around there where you can buy crayons too Skynet.
Cat Country isn't competing with WKLB Radiojay1.

In response to Moonstruck

I understand that CTK isn't competing with KLB for top ratings in Providence, but KLB will take some listeners away from CTK which may affect CTK's rating against other stations in Providence. CTK is competing with KLB for country music listeners.

It hasn't affected them at all.

It hasn't affected them; but CTK is still showing up in the Boston 12+ numbers at .08 summer phase 1 and .07 summer phase 2. It will be interesting next week when the full book comes out if they crack a 1.0 for the full book as that would have a little bit to say about the SE Mass (outside the New Beig/Fall Rive arbitron count)feeling about KLB or maybe some signal problems as CTK shouldn't be showing up at all....

Now that KLB's signal is better I have no doubt they will at least start showing in the Providence book like other Boston stations but we country listeners are fiercely loyal. I know my buckaroo Jay still thinks WKLB plays more classic country than WCTK because they play Here Comes My Baby by The Mavericks once a week but the fact is that other than WKLB's Sunday morning country gold show there really isn't much difference.

Radiojay you may be correct that WKLB may get some diary mentions that could have an affect on Cat Country vs the rest of the Providence market but there won't be any pronounced effect. I realize some feel Cat Country ain't what they used to be but their audience may not feel the same way. The station would have to put some major programming trainwrecks in effect to drive people away in droves to a Boston country station. Country radio may have its share of younger more active listeners but for the most part the average country song can take 6 months to even move to where it peaks on the charts as opposed to CHR where someone like T-Pain can have 2 simultaneous hits along with his irritating voice being featured on a half dozen others. The country audience is more patient and pretty much accepts what a station puts out. They don't compare this station vs that station and pick apart the music like a CHR listener might. Cat Country could put bombs and mid charters in high rotation and audience perception would be that these are the hits.

Runrigger, as much as I respect your radio knowledge and opinions, I have to disagree. WKLB is all over the map, and has a far more expansive playlist than does WCTK. That is exactly what I find appealing about WKLB. Three days ago, I heard "It's Four to One in Atlanta" on WKLB. This was yet another prime example of a song I have not heard in ten years. All in all, WKLB has one of the largest libraries and least-restricted playlists of any country station I have ever heard.

I hear that if you play a country song backwards, the man gets his wife, truck, and dog back. :D

So you guys actually do follow country music?

No we just blast it in the car with the windows down to discourage Puerto Rican hitchhikers.
