Finally, a compliment on TV Land

Not sure how long they have been doing this, but the prime-time "All In The Family" episodes lately are must-see for this viewer.

This is what TV Land can do best...put the quality shows on the air and let the chips fall where they may. The past week or two they have been running the season 1 episodes, which are among the best. The lack of political-correctness stands out. (Of course, that was the point of the show, and so "gutsy" for the time!).

The performances and writing on this show were simply superb. I watched one tonight with my 12-year old nephew and he was laughing harder than I was. What does that say?

Why can't they run some other classics like, Mod Squad, It Takes A Thief, Hart To Hart, Kojak? The same old comedy series day after day gets old.

I enjoy rewatching All In the Family. But I am getting sick of Roseanne and Cosby. I wish TVLand would start playing classic shows like Mary Tyler Moore, Taxi, Emergency, Adam 12, Columbo, and the list goes on.

Emergency and Adam-12 are both currently on RTV if you don't mind lousy audio and lip-sync problems.

i could be wrong but, i think the problem with tv land may not be their fault. it is probably problems with clearing those old shows for broadcast again after their 1st few runs. some of these shows have gone to direct consumer sales through CD box sets, and they may not be offering them for broadcast anymore. whatever the reason, TV Land has lost the original intent of the channel for viewers of Classic TV.

Ah, the joys of "sharing" shows with sister (Nick) networks...

That reminds me... Is any other cable network also carrying "All In The Family"? It's possible to have shows air on different cable networks - e.g. "Scrubs"!

TV Land has NO idea how to run what they have. Extreme Home Makeover is NOT classic television!!

Give me the reigns of that place, and in 6 months I'll have a real cable ratings GIANT in the world.
