Finally, all four sports parking lots on FM

I don't know when they started (had to be fairly recently), but KTAR/ESPN 620 is now on KMVP 98.7-HD2. They were the last FM-less holdout.

So now we have KTAR on 98.7-HD2, KGME on 99.9-HD2, KDUS on 100.7-HD2, and KQFN on flea-powered 95.9 and 99.3. KQFN is a non-entity anyway, but even the little-used HD-FM should benefit the others, especially at night. HD-FM still has to have more listeners than Ancient Modulation, even with comparatively few receivers in the field.

This is good news for ASU football fans who hated when their team got stuck on 620, even though they might stink this season.

All the sports stations that are not 98.7 are non-factors. We don't know about KQFN because CRC Broadcasting does not subscribe to Nielsen Audio, and therefore, its numbers aren't public. I'd imagine they sometimes have more listeners than 910 or 1060, despite that awful sports-betting show in the evenings.

Now, 98.7 needs to steal Jody Oehler away, and 910 will have hash marks. Oehler probably won't leave because of his beef with John Gambodoro.

And remind the Nurse and me again why the KTAR calls are on 6~Twenty? ESPN 620 should be KMVP, and AZ Sports 98~Seven should be KMVP-FM.

Looks like Westwood One Sports, which has the NFL Radio broadcasts as well as other sports, has gone from KGME to KQFN.

Westwood One NFL has been on KQFN since the 2019 season. KDUS airs a package from Sports USA.

If the Coyotes pack up and leave town, KGME might be a "sports parking...er, I mean car lot...in name only."

This thread title is a little deceiving since you still need an HD radio to get all of these sports parking lots. In actuality, only Arizona Sports 98.7 FM and KQFN AM 1580 (99.3 FM and 95.9 FM in the East Valley) are truly on FM. Fox Sports 910 KGME and KDUS AM 1060 still don’t have a presence on FM. But, I’m glad Bonneville finally got with the times and put ESPN 620 AM on 98.7 FM HD-2, something that is necessary these days with all these electric cars not having AM radios, but having FM HD radios.

The Coyotes are in a very tough spot having been given only a one year's notice to lose their building. Even if another site were available immediately it could not be ready for play in just one year. There are other ice surfaces in the Valley but none with the capacity for the required number to financially support a professional team (and ASU may already have sewed up available ice time). Even though the team has continued to say they are here for good I don't see any possible way - except one: the Madhouse on McDowell.

Although it's been constantly reported that it's condition is too far gone it seems the only possible interim solution.

It might help if the Valley's media would include them when they overindulge in the baseball, basketball and even soccer franchises. That has been woefully lacking ever since the original honeymoon ended.

We're still waiting for AMC to roll out the Green Gremlin...all electric, with a range great enough to reach the Old Gringo's Hut out in Vulture Valley, Cali. One of the major obstacles is battery placement under the rear seat.

It still amazes me that iHeart, with all the successful stations they have in Phoenix, have bungled their once-proud sports station. All they need is to bring in Roy Garibaldi and it will be the KMVP 860 of 2005 or KDUS of 2012 - "Jocks 'N Schlocks."

And remind the Nurse and me again why the KTAR calls are on 6~Twenty? ESPN 620 should be KMVP, and AZ Sports 98~Seven should be KMVP-FM.
A simple reluctance to change? WMAL 6~Thirty changed their calls to WSBN after breaking their simulcast with WMAL-FM 105~Nine two years ago.

Obstacle?

No, wait - the battery *is* the seat!

In all four seating locations!

YOWZA...that Green Gremlin X has taken my mind off upgrading to a Pontiac Aztek.

As far as keeping the KTAR calls on Sports Parking Lot 6~Twenty, it makes no sense whatsoever. The station is known as ESPN 6~Twenty and would definitely benefit by an association with KMVP, Arizona Sports Parking Lot 98~Seven.

It's frustrating since KQFN has such crappy signal. KGME is finally on a HD sub-channel, but they lost the rights.

Despite signal limitations, translators still reach more radios than an HD2/HD3. KQFN's problem is that it's not a South Mountain translator.

I live near Camelback and 20th St, When I tune to the translators on my HD Radio, it's not very good. The HD sub-channels sound great.

Of course, the HD2s cover more area than the KQFN translators. What I meant to say is that there are more standard radios in the clear listening areas of those translators than there are active HD Radios in Phoenix.

Translators don't save the bacon for many Ancient Modulation stations. Most don't have the tower height and are limited to 250 watts. They can't come anywhere close to regular FM stations. It is interesting to learn what Beasley is doing in Detroit with two Sports Parking Lot translators up against Audacy's full power FM Sports Parking Lot. Which is exactly where the Sun Devils are right now. TMISU in their infinite wisdom put ASU on 620/98.7-HD2 and the Doormatbacks on the main 98.7 feed. ASU football is far more important than the worst team in baseball.
