It's getting closer with today's Appeals Court ruling in D.C. and with Comcast saying it will not appeal, and I will still believe it when I see it, as I've been fighting this battle with Comcast for many years, but it appears as though they will finally allow CSN-Philly to be on DirecTV. And hopefully they will stop once and for all with the apples-to-oranges comparison of the NFL Sunday Ticket package being on exclusively on DirecTV when it had NOTHING TO DO with Comcast keeping CSN-Philly off of DirecTV.
With Comcast treading carefully seeking approval of its merger with NBCU, it looks like they don't want to upset the FCC and other regulators apple cart. It's a win for consumers and sports fans in Philadelphia (and displaced Philadelphia sports fans around the country) who can now decide how they want TV delivered into their Philadelphia metro area homes without having to worry if they don't pick the "right" provider, they won't receive the local regional sports network. Besides the per subscriber fee they will receive from DirecTV, this is a tremendous opportunity for Comcast to make additional revenue marketing properly to the displaced fans, many of whom return to Philly on a regular basis.
This will also end the insulting, obnoxious, odious treatment I have received from Comcast, right up to the executive suite level in CC, in fighting the battle over choice in TV delivery, and the antiquated 1992 Terrestrial Loophole that they hid behind since taking over the former PRISM network.
