New logs

88.9 WQCS- Fort Pierce, FL (Classical)
92.3 WWKA- Orlando, FL (Country)
97.3 WFLC- Miami, FL (AC)
93.9 WLVE- Miami Beach, FL (Smooth Jazz)

94.1 KQXY- Beaumont, TX (Top 40)
94.5 KTBZ- Houston, TX (Modern Rock)

Relogs

92.7 WAVW- Stuart, FL (Country)
93.1 93 Rock- Miami, FL (Not sure of their new call letters)

Unconfirmed

Spanish 94.9- Wasn't sure if it was Miami or the one from the Bahamas.
Spanish 95.7- Once again, wasn't sure if it was Miami. I don't know Spanish!
AC on 96.9- I would guess that it's WKEZ from the Keys though.

I think I may have also heard a pirate station at 91.7, fighting with our semi-local WUOM. I couldn't confirm anything, but I heard very overcompressed rap. It just sounded like a pirate operation. It would have been impossible to confirm without a phone number.

I can not stop commenting on how great the last two weeks have been for DX in my location. In four days between 7-22/7-25, I received 29 stations from Saint Louis, Toronto and points in between. The rest of last week was pretty slow with only two other new catches. But since Sunday (7-31) I have received 27 more stations with 19 of them being through e-skip.

"Lite 105.7" is WWLL Sebring, FL. This is probably what you heard. http://www.cohanradiogroup.com/wwll1057fm/index.php

Meanwhile, August 2nd here in the Hudson Valley, four new loggings and many “old friends”.

New:

WKGC-90.7 Panama City, FL, pretty sure this was station with live county commission meeting heard at various times between 5:50pm and 7pm. It was the kind of “programming” you expect on Public Access Cable-TV, not FM radio. WKCG’s web site indicates they broadcast these meetings, but no schedule is indicated. 1040 miles. Florida #62 since May 2003.

WHOD-94.5 Jackson, AL, clear call letter mention, at 6:04pm then lost to WJZD (below). A little later I heard “the Classic Hits Station”, playing “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” (Elton John) and “Who Are You” (Who).. not sure if classic hits was WHOD, or an unID. WHOD is 1046 miles.

WJZD-94.5 Long Beach, MS, “JZ-94.5”, jazz, “Happy Hour” 6:05pm, 1150 miles.

WGTF-89.5 Dothan, AL religious, legal ID at 7:00pm, into SRN News. 969 miles. Alabama #21.

Many stations previously heard were noted between 5:30pm and 8pm.

WMAW-88.1 Meridian, MS NPR at 5:35pm. Earlier I think I had a Louisiana unID NPR
WPAS-89.1 Pascagoula, MS, American Family Radio.
WRJM-93.7 Geneva, AL talk.
WZNS-96.5 Fort Walton Beach, FL Z-96.
WXEL-90.7 W. Palm Beach with wine show.
WMGE-94.9 Miami Beach, Spanish “Mega”. Previously logged as WZTA “94.9- Zeta” May 2004. Call letter change noted.
Other previously logged Miami area stations noted between 7:30 and 8pm: WPOW-96.5 Power 96, WXDJ-95.7 Spanish, WFLC-97.3 Delilah with recorded liner saying hello to Pembroke Pines, WRTO-98.3 Spanish, WEDR-99.1 hip-hop, and WKIS-99.9 Kiss Country.

At 7:53 I might have heard the “LG” from WKLG-102.1 calls, but couldn’t hold onto it. Would have been a new log. Skip died out shortly afterwards.

Frequent skip activity lately, after much of July was dead. Hope it keeps up!!

I suspect this station maybe WINK-FM 96.9 out of Fort Myers,
Florida. This station plays AC music.

Lastnight, I had some tropo, I had WWHT "Hot 107-9" out of
Syracuse, NY.

Right now there's a bit of e-skip on channels 2 & 3 at around
10:00 AM EDT (August 3rd).

One more thing, if anyone ever happens to receive CKVR-TV
channel 3 out of Barrie, Ontario I just want to let some DX'ers
know that they dropped their old "The New VR" name just the
other day and changed it to "The A Channel".

Take care.

From Lee.

This change will also affect CHRO (the only Newnet station I've logged) and the rest of the network, right? Shame, it'll make them that much harder to ID.

Oddly enough, I didn't get Canada during yesterday's rapidly shifting skip (from Louisiana to New York/New England to South Dakota/Iowa again).

More E-Skip Wdnesday

The FM E-Skip continues here in the Hudson Valley. Wednesday morning 8/3 - Two new loggings.

WSRX-89.5 Naples, FL, “Praise FM”, with list of sponsors, err “underwriters” in the Naples area, 10:58am. I had tentatively heard them several weeks back, but was unable to confirm it. 1169 miles.

WCNO-89.9 Palm City, FL “The Good News Station”, religious, with clear ID at 11:00am. 1077 miles. Florida #64 since May 2003. FM Log # 658.

Had traces of skip afterwards for quite a while, including “The Joy FM” and “Way FM” Florida regulars on 88.1, but nothing new and loggable.

I have a feeling this is just about the end of this summer's E-skip season. All together, 76 new FM skip stations logged this season.<P ID="signature">______________
