Finally: WCAU NBC 10 newscasts to go HD in December

Does anyone have the detail plans regarding the HD upgrades to the studio sets of both TV studios (Studio 3 and Studio 1) and possible reconfiguration of the NBC10 Newsroom?

Well tomorrow's December 1. "HD coming this December". Any word on a date? I'm sure we'll hear it soon from 10 by the anchors and commercials, but was wondering if anyone knew.

Also, will their news at 10 on WPHL 17 be HD as well? :)

Here is what NBC4 in New York recently rolled out. I wonder if NBC10 will be similar? Does anyone have any idea when the exact roll-out date is?

I have a Magnavox LCD with a built-in digital tuner. I'm already getting Channel 10 in SD, DT as well as the Channel 10 weather channel and Universal sports channel, with an over the air antenna. I don't understand the grandstanding on Channel 10's part.

Digital and high-definition are two separate issues.

Channel 10 has been broadcasting a digital signal for some time. NBC programs have been broadcast in high-definition digital, but anything originating locally has been standard-definition.

The big change is that the local news will soon be broadcast in high definition.

Sadly for NBC 10, they've become virtually irrelevant on the news front as NBC's woes have mounted.

With the HD turn-on Wednesday, does this mean all of their mobile unit vans, Studio 10, Chopper 10, and their newsroom will all be HD also?

If they're smart, they'll hit the ground running with all facets upgraded to HDTV.

It appears from indications of this investigative report that NBC10's new HD Studio 3 and upgraded newsroom will be similar to WNBC-TV NBC4's.
