Been hearing many "oh wow" rock and metal tunes with the top 10 songs of different things, Poison, Sweet Leaf-Sabbath, Whiskey in the Jar-O, you name it. If YSP made this their daily diet it would be fantastic, and why shouldn't they. I just hope they dont go back to playing the same 50 titles come Monday :(...

Agree i like the different selection. But i have a feeling it's back to the same pearl jam,led zeppelin, pink floyd, metallica songs. i would love for them to play broaden up their playlist to Korn,Slipknot, static X. There is more to rock music then the same overplayed songs.

We have plenty - PLENTY - of tired classic rock staples playing in Philly. Whoopee - they played Poison, "Sweet Leaf" and "Whiskey In The Jar". How about the heavier rock that most Active Rock stations (which, after all, YSP claims to be) play? I'm not hearing ANY of it. Maybe we'll hear the new Slipknot song for a couple of months, but they'll soon drop it and forget the band even exists, and we'll continue to hear tired Van Halen, Aerosmith, AC/DC, etc. WYSP will never go anywhere if they keep on doing the same old thing and giving us more of what we already hear constantly from MMR and MGK.

i nominate 107.1 The Bone in allentown as the hardest rock station within 70 miles of philly (too bad they dont reach the philly area). they got a lot of korn, soad, the new slipknot tune, etc on the air all the time. they do play zeppelin, but is the different stuff, not the same 2 songs everytime.

Overall it sounded OK, but I was disappointed with some selections, especially with the power ballads, they forgot great bands such as Cinderella, Warrant, Twisted (yes they did have a PB) and others, it seems they are still hanging in with their core artists and not expanding on other bands from the early 80's to mid 90's). How the hell can Bon Jovi be considered in any form of heavy rock. Its also coincidental when these "so called" request weekends have the same tunes asked for that are in heavy rotation, and that is with any station....

been noticing some brand new YSP billboards in the area. a sign that something is in the works? or maybe they're just gonna stick with what they're doing, which seems to be putting them on the right track.

thoughts?

I think 93.5 WZBH The Beach is the most heavy hitting rock stations in the area. It is out of Georgetown Delaware/Ocean City MD area.

Amen! Terrific station, and exactly what WYSP or Greater Media should be doing. YSP, MMR, RAY, DHA are tired, predictable and mundane, and The Beach is anything but those things - it's no surprise that it's such a top performer in its market. If only the aforementioned rock stations could break out of their chicken rock rut and do something interesting for a change.

ive come to a conclusion, 107.1 the bone and 93.5 the beach may very well be the best active rockers out there. too bad both of their signals suck.
