Finding the right Cassette Adaptor

Ive got a different car now, and my sirius has alot of static generated from the cars electrical system. Everything puts static into the signal, the Windsheild wipers, the AC, and HEAT, as well as a little engine noise. Ive tried moving the wires around, and trying the adjacent frequencies to see how much the signal splatters over, trying to find the sweet spot with the least static and I still get static with this DAM JVC receiver, they must have very weak modulators. Anyway, I am going to try using a Cassette adaptor. DO I have to by any special Tape adaptor, or will any of them work? Does anyone recommend a certain kind of Cassette adaptor, for the best sound? They have these Generic Cassette adaptors at the Truck stop I work at for 12.99, (COBY BRAND) will that be good enough, or should I hunt for a Fancier, name brand model. THANKS FELLOW SIRIUS PEEPS, for whatever help you can give, this static is just driving me up the wall.
Edited by midwestclubber on 07/18/05 12:19 AM.

I would suggest a Sony brand tape adapter, silver plug. I remember getting sound distortion with a gold-plated plug from a different brand adapter.

If SOny doesnt have any static at all, For Sure, than I will go for one of those. I would be pretty ticked off to spend the money on one, that give me static, real low modulation, Buzzing, or all of the above. Yet some generic brands can be pretty good at times, while some name brands can be bad products.

I've had a couple of Sony adaptors that came with CD players over the years. They have worked with everything from CDs to iPods to laptops to satellite radios with very good results in multiple cars.

I went to Wal Mart today, they only had one kind, it was a (Phillips) for 9.99. I went ahead and got it, and it works fantasic. As soon as I plugged it in, the sound quality was much Cleaner, and Louder. It is just Soooo much better than the fm mods. Now, all I need to do, is replace the Worn out Factory speakers, Someone has played this stereo too hard.

I got one of those philips adapters for my GFs car and it works wonders compaired to the FM mod.

Re: Ive got one

I have the one from Wal-Mart too. What a difference it makes over the FM-mod!! I think I might actually upgrade my cassette deck!

Im thinking of doing the same thing. If it sounds this good with a cassette adapter on stock equipment, imagine what good speakers, and a good cassette deck will do.
