Finebaum returns Monday.

Press release from Alexander Broadcasting confirms the Paul Finebaum will return to WALX on Monday. The show was also picked up by The Ticket (107.5) in Montgomery. So what does this do to WMSP (who was already being beaten by The Ticket in Men), and Mikey Reynolds Confusion 100.1 which has been dabbling in Sports with a 2 hour block?

Good for both stations.

Hope he does well again at WALX and at his new home in the Gump.

Sports Talk may not be my thing but I'll be rooting for him.

I wonder what that means for (Con)Fuzion and their train wreck of a radio station?

P.S. To WALX congrats on getting Mr. Finebaum back.  Hope he does well for you again.

Finebaum also returns to WTLS Tallassee (1300 AM / 106.5 FM). Therefore, you'll likely to be able to hear him three different places on the FM dial (and two on AM during the daylight hours) in Montgomery. WTLS will delay one hour it appears, carrying Finebaum from 2 - 6 PM after the two hour River Region Sports show.

I added a link to the live audio stream for WJOX-FM to the article since they would broadcast segments of the program not expected to be broadcast by WNSP-FM.

Hooray! If your family is fed by Paul Finebaum's rhetorical exploits, I just hope that you'll keep more of that food down this time around.

Now with that outta the way, on 'Confuzion': I'm pretty confident that if BroadSouth really wanted to do so, WDXX 100.1 could return to country and recapture most of what it gave up in Selma to chase Montgomery. Or it could simply tweak things to be a pretty good gold-based AC that polarizes relatively few people, making it better background noise for local businesses and people with itchy FM scan fingers.

Because lost in all of the yay-kix-oh-boy-did-100.1-screw-up hoopla, we're ignoring the WLWI 92.3 CP that could put full or almost city-grade coverage over Selma. And since it ain't changing (at least not dramatically, anyway), I-92 out of Montgomery will effectively make any local country station in a non-metered market somewhat second rate (outside of high school football, Sunday church programs, and like local events).

Perhaps there's a small bit of dumb luck credit due to Broadsouth for daring to do something different--it's not as if the local Selma, AL country station really needed to be 50,000 watts.

Why I-92? If the last two fall books have proven anything - its that WBAM is becoming the dominant country station in Montgomery. Auburn football is what is pumping up the fall numbers for I-92 while Bama Country remains steady with no Alabama, Auburn, or any other college boost. And, quite frankly, they play more music and the presentation is far more enjoyable. And, above all, they are local!

Word on the street is that WLWI's days are numbered, and that on labor Day weekend I-92 will become "Nash FM with syndicated programming out of Nashville as part of Clueuless' plan to nationalize their Countey brands. Bye, bye I-92.

Your info is correct Mr. Gower.

Montgomery TV and Radio is also sharing this news.

Here's the info:  Aug 16th-18th will mark the final appearance at Buckmasters for WLWI under it’s 30+ years of “I-92″, come labor day weekend WLWI will become NASH FM 92.3.

i’ve verified this information with several credible sources.

P.S. It looks like live and local radio is going away very fast.  Glad to know that we still have some "Real Local Radio Stations" on the air.  (You, Mr. Paul and My soon to be LPFM broadcast, are some fine examples of that!)

Someone needs to tape (does anyone still do that) some airchecks of I-92 as we know it. Call me odd, but I always enjoyed hearing their liners and top of the hour ID with the "dixie" tune -- everytime I hear their ID's and liners it brings me back to the days when I was an Auburn student... good times, but I digress :D

So, when "Nash FM" moves in, will WLWI lose all of its local content?
