Ah, more short jokes about Jason eh...
The announcement is said to come at 11 today and Feinburg said "maybe we'll cover it" (I assume that means
Todd will read it on air; I doubt Jason or Julie will do so. He said he has no knowledge of what will happen
to Scotto: "I only read about these things in the paper" (i.e., they never tell him anything)
Callers this morning:
"I won't listen to 'RKO again once he's on," or "I'll listen to Todd and Howie's shows but not him"
"I'll listen to him once but if I don't like it, I won't tune in again"
Sadiki Kambon said that Jerry W must be turning over in his grave and wondered if Whitey Bulger would get a job there if he somehow came out of hiding (to be fair, Whitey's crimes were a bit more severe...)
"OK, maybe he deserves a second chance" (prob. just one caller)
"WRKO has a double standard--they wouldn't give (censored) a second chance"
(Censored) being John DePetro, whose name was bleeped out.
One caller said "all these changes, adding the sports--I don't like the Celtics or the Red Sox...and then
I tune in on Saturday to hear Todd and I hear Mariellen Burns instead". The caller says she's
a conservative who likes hearing Todd and presumably she's turned off by hosts who are more liberal
or moderate.
When a caller points out that he tuned into Finneran on a guest shot and heard "a lot of pauses", etc.,
Todd points out "Well, sometimes it takes awhile to pick up on how to do a talk show. It's not easy."
I do remember hearing Peter Blute's tryout on Howie's show. There were pauses, he sounded uncomfortable...
but later when he was paired with someone else (Moes, later Ozone, and later Scotto) it sounded better...
having a partner helped.
