Finneran's Forum

Brian Maloney at savewrko.com is reporting that Todd Feinberg is taking on a more permanent role on "Finneran's Forum." Does anyone have any "inside knowledge" of whether of not Finneran will last?

It has been less than 6 months give or take, so I think they are going to stay with him a bit longer. Finneran is not a radio pro, even though he had filled in on BZ occasionally. Morning drive is certainly a lot more challenging than a call in show at night. It is also probably going to be cheaper for them to keep him than to beach him and have to pay out his contract.

Peter Blute had a co host and it worked pretty good. Peter was pretty green when he got to 116 Hunnington, but adapted well, probably a lot better than Finneran ever will.

Fineberg can't hurt that show. Besides who does Julie have in the on deck circle? In the bad old days they would have a weekender or a night person being groomed for the slot. Howie's show wouldn't play in AM drive IMHO, and there is no night guy to go to. Week-enders? I think they are better off with Felons Forum than any of the current weekend line up. I wonder if Osterlind or Miller would be willing to come back and save Julie and Jason's bacon? Does Entercom have someone in a minor market that is ready to make the jump to the big time? Not that their last experiment in raiding the Providence market worked out for them. But then again Buddy Cianci is available.

Are there no consequences for Julie "The Executioner" Kahn and her "little me" Jason for their horrendous choices for on-air talent such as Tom Finneran in morning drive time.

Julie - now considered a feminist hot shot by the Globe - is a dismal failure and if she were a man she would have been fired long a ago.
It is amazing that there are apparently two standards at WRKO. A man who made like decisions which resulted in this disaster would have been out on the street.

And when Julie "The Executioner" Kahn is finally kicked out ore more likely kicked up stairs she can take her "little me" Jason with her.

Really? Not in the companies I've worked in. Not that it never happens. But, men are much more likely to be 'carried' while women are phased out.

I don't think anything can save that shipwreck. They can parade all the talent ( or lack thereof) into that studio that they want, but you're still stuck with 4 insufferable hours of uhhs , ahhs and drymouth. The hypocricy of the entire show is sickening. This morning they were discussing trust in government and the Felon started meandering on about how the resolution to abuse of power is legal action by ethics commissions and jail time for offenders. It was vile. How many callers do you think were allowed to get through to point out the flaw in his argument is the fact that this bigot, perjoror, thief and felon was sitting in front of the mike? The producer hung up on me. By the way, do you think no busy signal on morning drive is a sign that no one is interested in what he has to say?

I would agree with this comment, too. It has been my personal experience that women have been released from positions of authority far more quickly than men have, in media companies or otherwise. Men are able to schmooze a bit longer to draw it out and seldom get whacked right away.

Finnerian better get jesus Christ as a guest host, beacuse Carr is gonna kill him

I like Finneran's program. Maybe he just isn't suited to a major daypart like morning drive. Too valuable of a daypart to risk on a newbie. Put Finneran in another daypart.

To do that, they'd have to pry him away from KFI-AM Los Angeles.

Actually, a pretty good idea. Move Finneran to PMD and put the new Imus into AMD.
Imus's act will probably be toned down for the sake of the sensitive folks, and Imus can do both 25-54s and qualitative better than Carr, and Finneran gets Severin who has been treading water and going nowhere since his return.

TSB
