Fire at WIFI 92.9

104.1 has been a PITA since they were in the West Berlin area off 73, now in Mt Laurel, they serve Marlton much better then their col Cherry Hill....

WJZ 640 also broadcasted from this facility in the 90’s right across the hall from WIFI 1460. Their original studio was inside of an old barn at the 50,000 watt transmitter site in Pemberton but due to a conflict with the land owner they were evicted and forced to shut down for a few months in the mid 1990’s. With the help of Mike Venditti they were able to set up shop with a “temporary” 1700 watt transmitter at the Florence facility. They remained in Florence until they were sold to Radio Disney in 1999.

I had the opportunity to tour the original studio in Pemberton. It was still there into the 2000’s which was years after the previous owners were evicted. Disney bought the station and they transmitted from the Pemberton site but obviously everything was piped in via satellite, That said, the original console, turntables, and cart machines, stacks of albums and 78 RPM records, along with a gigantic blue 50,000 watt RCA transmitter were still there. All of the equipment was ancient (circa 1950’s and 60’s). I don’t believe Disney was using big blue but it may have been there as a back up transmitter.

This was 23 years ago, I have to doubt that all of that ancient equipment is still there, but who knows?
Also visited the station very early on, Nick Grande was there on air, telling me about phone calls he was getting
from Baltimore, happy to hear the older music they were playing.

I tired to tune in to the station today. The stream is dead air and the song history on onlineradiobox is the same songs over and over. "Even though I hear dead air". They played "My Humps" over 1,000 times this week. Does anyone know if the station is still running and maybe this is a stream error?

Earlier this week I noticed that 92.9 was silent
