I am sick of this ignorant clown. This man and his team are obviously racist. And people who make openly racist comments should have no place on the air. Today allaccess had a netnews story on him talking about his Mexican controversy he made during an April 2nd show. Allaccess then goes to tell everyone to send their complaints to the PD Randi West.

Dear Mr. Dumas,

No one cares if seeing a giant Mexican flag makes you angry. This is America. Meaning if someone wants to fly any flag reguardless of what it is, that is their decision. And being in AMERICA, this country gives them the freedom to do so. It is ignorant people like yourself is what makes my blood boil. Yes ignorant. Your forefathers werent from here either, where are your papers? I hope you are fired and you never work in radio again. Then when you do land your next job at McDonalds I hope a mexican american or a person with a Native American decent is your boss just to piss you off.

Alright here come the Dumas defenders saying how the things he does are jokes and he is just doing his show trying to get a laugh out of people. Doing that sort of stuff is not funny. It is distasteful, irresponsible, and flat out dangerous. Dangerous for Mr. Dumas. Who is to say some of the "mexican" folks out there wont be waiting for DUMass in the station parking lot after his show? I will be writing Mr. West, anyone else?

Do you think you're really saying anything new? Let me break down a few things that a post usually aims for.

-Constructive? No
-Intellegent? No
-Thought producing? No
-A Question? No
-Relevent? No

Not trying to be an ass, but you couldn't at least take it to the OTHER Bob Dumas thread?

Judge- as much as I dislike and disapprove of Dumas' comments, he, along with the rest of us, is protected by his Constitutional right to free speech. Trying to force management to fire him because he offended you is not the appropriate remedy. Refusing to patronize his show and complaining to his advertisers is. If enough folks listen (and take their ad dollars) elsewhere, management will be forced to act for the correct reason.

Bob shouldn't be upset by the Mexican flag flying over the Mexican consulate any more than the people of Mexico should be upset by the American flag flying over an American Consulate in Mexico.

Sure, be upset about illegal immigrants - we should all be upset about those people who come from other countries (not just from Mexico) and feed off of our society. Now, I said feed off of it, not contribute to it. There are many thousands of immigrants who are legal, productive contributors to the American economy and society in general.

People who express their anger in the way Mr. Dumas expressed his, simply show their ignorance of the truth. He, and those like him should stick to an analysis of American Idol and the Democratic Presidential Candidates.

Mike, I agree with your post. And I agree there is a difference between immigrants and illegal aliens. Immigrants come here thru proper procedure, live and work by our laws, pay their fair share of taxes, and are welcome in my book. Illegal aliens- well, quite another story, as the VERY first act they commit on American soil is a felony....and it generally goes downhill from there.

He may be wrong, but "freedom of speech" goes for white boys just as much as other groups. I mean have you ever heard Russ Parr? White people get slammed all the time and no one says a word.

um, Randi West is a woman. You obviously don't tune in to the station much, which means you probably never heard The Showgram - you just heard what happened from someone else and hopped the haters band-wagon.

It's just amazing how Freedom of Speech is supposed to be ignored some of the time but heralded at others.

I'm not taking a side on Bob Dumas' future, but I would like to see everybody interpret the Constitution properly. Nobody has a Constitutional right to work for G-105. The Constitutional "right to free speech" means the government can't punish you for something you say. But if Clear Channel (a private company) wants to fire Bob, that's entirely their own decision ... and angry listeners are well within their rights if they want to demand it.

Just which way is the "proper" way to "interpret" the Constitution? Methinks I'd rather take the Rule of Law at face value- and avoid the litigation.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

"Face value" is pretty clear. The First Amendment prohibits Congress from abridging the freedom of speech. It says nothing about private employers. If federal agents try to arrest Bob for something he said, his rights have been violated. Until then, this isn't a Constitutional issue.

More Showgram drama? Right on the heels of that other remark? When did that story come out?

And who knows what'll happen to G105 if the Showgram is canned; during their 3-day suspension when Randi filled in for them, there really was no morning show; all Randi did was take music requests. I like Randi West; she's funny, but she's definitely not a morning girl. Her current PM-drive slot fits her much better.

Stay tuned...

This is exactly what it comes down to. Look at some of Judge's previous posts. He reads All Access News, finds a show in trouble, and swoops in and hops on the bandwagon. That's why I was so hard on him, because he didn't even hear the comments, he just read everything out of context on All Access.

There is no drama here at all. I am a dedicated listener (listen to the On Demand at work as night) and I heard the comments. He wasn't bashing Mexicans. He wasn't upset that the Mexican flag was flying. Nothing like that. He just saw the consulate, wondered what it was like most people would, and was trying to find out. Then, since he was getting mixed answers, he sent the Assistant Producer out there to find out.

Judge is just another bandwagon idiot who never heard the comments.

People. Please. Please, god, please.

This is what Bob does. Any time there has been a suspension ever since the old days, it was a giggle fest in the office.

Please. Please. Please. Let the tooth fairy go away. Stop putting all the damn teeth under your pillow.

Every time somebody gets mad, it perpetuates the thing that Bob does. He does it well. You know how I know? This thread and any other with angry Bob comments.

Please. ;D ;D

PS: Wow, judge. You have no idea how much money a guy with a long standing AM show might make do you? IF Bob ever leaves this job (and it won't be 'cause of this 'un!...) He's got a plenty of fallback savings from all these years. Believe it. I bet he makes more than Bill Jordan and I know that drives Jordan crazy. Tee hee hee.

You know what, folks? Radio needs more "Showgram" talent at the mics. I'm a former GM and I've faced community activists as a result of what talent on my teams said or did. It's important to hear their concerns but it's also important to make them understand that all humor contains the "butt" of the joke. I'm guessing that neither of Bob's remarks were venomous; they were simple jokes. If radio is to survive in its present form -- and I see that as a huge question at this point -- it will have to endure some of these paper swords from well-meaning albeit misguided community activists.

If you want a morning jock like Bob Dumbass (yeah, I went there; I can be funny like ole Bob, too--duh huh), just hire a jock and get a subscription to Bitboard. You too, can have the Showgram in your market, programming geniuses!

Gotta agree with my Jax Radio Bud. If everyone took crap literally, there would have never been any good radio at all..Goes back to the freedom of speech issue. If ya don't like it, change the station..Grease, Jay, Scott, Murphy, myself, and all the rest of my peers have crossed the lines before, but back in the daz, Everyone just laughed it off and said "hell, it's in a sweep..What's become of these times where people can't laugh and move on..Naw, We gonna sue everyone..Sad state of affairs and I'm glad, I'm not the rookie on the block!

I am NOT a Bob fan!!!!, Words will only effect you, if you allow them too. This is why radios and televisions come with OFF switches and CHANGE channel buttons.

I am a Sean Hannity Fan(and Rush, Bill O'Reilly, Mark Levin, Laura Ingram, etc...) It amazes me how many people call their show and just BMW (Bitch, Moan, Whine) about them. When you listen or watch these individuals, you know what kind of material you are going to hear.

I thought the FCC (and Al Sharpton ;) ) make the rules of the media, not the public. I know advertisers get upset and BMW, and pull of thier ads. Give the advertisers who stay a break on their spots, they will advertise more, thus replacing the spine-less ones who left.

If you have good talent, support him or her!! (unless laws have been broken). Here's an idea, let's say bad things about Bob and everything will be Kosher again!

Bad words about Stuart: I am an overweight, loud, rude person! (at least this is what people tell me, I will admit to being overweight, and probably loud and rude :-[ ) ............only words.

Stuart

;D Me too! All of the above, I agree Stuart..!

bob did something that goes on everday in all forms of media...big deal..he didn't drop the "f" bomb..i think it was a great spring book promotion...and always when you suspend your morning, replace it with something god awful..that creates even more street talk..oh one more thing...most of these post are very infromative and right on time..others are as bad as what bob did on the show..or should i say as funny..i don't totally agree with what he did..but i understand...borrowed that from chris rock
