I called and talked to Charlotte Kelso today.I just had she and Jim on my mind and it had been a while since I had talked to her.She is fine... she told me to tell you hello.I miss Jim alot.He was such a great guy.We spent many hours talking radio,big bands & racing.I know you loved him just like I did.Jim was a guy who had such a passion for radio and music.He was such an intelligent guy.I am grateful for all that he did for me.

I felt bad that I did not learn of Jim's death until several months after he passed away. I was working in Savannah,GA at the time. Jim was a great guy and very passionate about radio. We were able to work together for Doc Benefield when I was Ops Director.

Jim and I took many day trips looking for old military bases and radio stations. I remember one trip where we ended up in Fayetteville. Jim showed me where one of his early stations in Spring Lake was. I saw tears well up in his eyes when we saw that the building was all in decay and falling apart.

The night his house burned down, Christmas Eve Jim called me and I went over to be with him and Charlotte.

A great guy who is missed!

I have so many great memories of Jim.He played me alot of music in his home studio.I loved his show on Public radio.I remember Christmas Eve of 1992 Jamie and I went to Maysville to see her Mom and we stopped by LCC on our way home
and Jim was playing Christmas music and having a ball.Few people I know love radio the way Jim Kelso did.I think he loved and respected me and you Kris because we loved radio like he did.Some many times I would have to go to work and having to tell Jim I had to go.As you know he was hard to say goodbye to.If
just a few more in radio today loved it like Jim did,radio would be in better shape.
His passion rubbed off on me and he helped me understand and appreciate the business more than I ever did before I met him.I know he thought the world of you
and I certainly miss him alot and if I'm 1/1000th of the broadcaster he was I'm proud of that..

If this is the same Jim Kelso i remember from the days of being the public
address announcer for the Kinston Indians, what a voice!, I never met him
the times i went to games at Grainger Stadium, but he had a big influence
on some of you broadcasters in Eastern North Carolina, and i'm sure you
will cherish those memories.
 
Yes you are correct! Jim was p.a. announcer for the Indians for a few years. Before that, Bob Snowdon who was LCC'S broadcast head before Kelso did it as well.
