Fires and Radio in Denver?

How has the fires affected radio in Denver? I am guessing the local news stations are doing coverage.. Any transmitter sites affected?

None in the Denver/Boulder area but if the Waldo Creek Fire climbs up Cheyenne Mountain, that would be THE ABSOLUTE WORST case scenario as a number of Colorado Springs Radio stations & ALL of the TV stations are up there. If those are burned down, I think it's safe to say that unless they have backup facilities, THE ONLY TV station that would be on the air would be KOAA 5 (NBC) whose primary facilities are near Pueblo (About 30 miles south of Colorado Springs)

On top of that, there are a number of Amateur Radio repeaters & other commercial equipment up there as well. And that DOES NOT include the fact that NORAD is located inside Cheyenne Mountain too

As for the Ft. Collins area, hard to say on that

Cheers & 73 :D

I think it's safe to say NORAD would survive a forest fire. Getting some much needed monsoon rains around here, so hopefully no more fires for a long time!!
