Total Traffic increased the requirements that local radio stations must follow to get the service, effective January 1. Some stations and owners chose to leave rather than either pay more or hand over more inventory or both. For instance, Salem stations have cut back to only taking traffic on weekday mornings. Some stations left altogether.
Total Traffic says it wasn't making money servicing stations with poor ratings or no ratings. But that means reporters doing traffic on those stations were laid off. Or if they did a combination of stations, they may have had their hours reduced.
