Quinn out after 36 years. More at the Connecticut Post here:http://www.connpost.com/ci_11647114
Dude, I worked in that back stabbing, slimeball, weasel business for many years. Everyone gets what's coming to them.radio220 said:I wouldn't call it ""corporate"" cutbacks.....How about a TERRIBLE economy? Do you think all these companies WANT to fire these people? Especially at their cash cow stations? Get real....
ALL industries are hurting just as badly..Things are being cutback from your favorite station to your local Home Depot....
Many of them are. Like I said before what goes around comes around. And you might have wait a little longer for justice but it eventually gets served to those who deserve it.ThExMaNCT said:Video, do you know Tim Quinn personally? Or any of the other personalities that were let go?? Dont assume because you used to work around egotistical jocks that every talent is like that.
A$$!

I will not disclose the identities of the back-stabbing low lifes that I have worked with in CT radio. But suffice it say many had very high profile air shifts. They were so extremely insecure, they sank to a level of troublemaking that no one would ever believe. Using the public airwaves to denigrate a handful of people just to boost their little ego. Thankfully, these gutless losers got what they deserved. Blacklisted and out of the business. There should be no tolerance for using the public airwaves for your own get even games.branfordbob said:I've worked with both Tim Quinn and Brian Smith. To say they got what they deserved is just plain ignorant and shows that whoever said it doesn't know the individuals, or have the slightest clue as to what the hell they're talking about! Tim and Brian are two of the nicest, most ethical people I've had the pleasure to know in broadcasting or anywhere else for that matter. Any radio station would be lucky to have them.
Cumulus doesn't understand that they need a product to sell...they're too busy stopping the hemorrhaging to worry about product, while they could and should be doing both. They will get what they deserve!
You obviously have not worked at the bigger stations in this state. Like I said not going to name drop but there are a select few who need an ethics course. It appears to be more prevalent with morning show hosts who have huge egos.radio monkey said:Branford Bob, thank you.
Video killed: I am really sorry that your experience in the radio industry has been so awful. I've been working in this industry for 25 years and have met, worked with and worked for some of the best people I've ever met in my life. Every business has its lowlifes and creeps and back stabbers. It is really sad for you that you seem to have worked with nothing but.

Especially people like Paul Pacelli who has been anchoring news in CT for many, many years. Hansen expects him to stick around for welfare wages just because it's radio? He should shelve his ego and get a real job.Bill DeFelice said:Bill1820 said:i heard WEBE afternoon guy Robbie Bridges doing local news at 5 on WICC this afternoon. Of course, this brings up yet another first: Does he pre-record the news on the AM or does he voicetrack on the FM to allow himself time to do the news? What will happen with "breaking news", too?
I heard a promo this morning about "team coverage" - what team do that have left? Unless Mike Bellamy clones himself I don't see what team they have left. They are one step closer to Cheap Channel, who has their "local" Connecticut news come out of Syracuse.
BTW: The rumour mill has it that all part-timers will have their pay cut to sub $10/hr levels. How many of them do you expect to stick around at that rate?
I have a real job because radio was about to put me on skid row. Dude, I have seen it all. Been there done that.radio monkey said:He should shelve his ego and get a real job
again with that...a real job like whatever YOU are doing now...but clearly you'd rather be doing radio for a living ...hey but it's MUCH easier to just continue to insult the people who work in radio.

Been there done that. When I worked in the business stations were locally owned and the local owners genuinely cared about the staff. Suffice to say I worked at a very popular CT AM/FM for ten years. Those stations were bought and sold 4 times in that time period. And back then you had management that would stand up for quality air talent. I actually thought quality programing mattered. It's all about the bottom line. Most stations are either vt'd or satellite after 7p. Curious as to what is going to happen next? The local talent is no more. ELI doesn't have any local programming M-F. It used to be the New Haven news leader. SAD! Perhaps corporate will eventually learn.
