First Christmas ad of 2012

Mine was last Wednesday and it was for Target. There were decorations and some contemporary garbage with Christmas-related lyrics, which doesn't count as Christmas music to me.

I was in a Lowe's home improvement store in Massachusetts 2 or 3 weeks ago and they were set for Christmas at that point which probably means they were set for Christmas a week or two before that.

I work at Lowe's in Jackson, TN part time. We had most Christmas items up by Oct. 1st. I'm waiting to see who has the first decorations up in my area, probably a few days after Halloween. ::)

It's absolutely disgusting that X-Mas ads are happening in October. Why not go through the HALLOWEEN ads first...

Believe it or not I probably saw the first Christmas decorations up in my area TONIGHT. It was a Christmas tree with pumpkins around it. On Nov. 1st they take out the pumpkins and thetree will probably stay. ::)

See, this is what I meant when I said "early emphasis on Christmas" in the Off The Air Halloween thread. It makes October feel way off than it has been in the past. Wal-Mart and Big Lots also have their Christmas-related items for sell in the past two weeks.

I work for Costco and we had our stuff out way before... lights and decorations around August. But then again, once it gets close to Christmas, we don't sell any Xmas stuff so I think that's just Costco's strategy.

Was in K-Mart in the heart of Manhattan in mid-September, and there was a section of the store that made you think it was mid-December.

I had a thought that may be semi-OT, buth what day in Canada is considered the "official" start of the Christmas season, like the day after Thanksgiving is here in the US? I know it's probably not that day in Canada since Thanksgiving there is the same as our Columbus Day in October.

I haven't seen any television ads for Christmas yet. But when every commercial break is bombarded with anti {candidate name} ads, I don't expect to see a TV Christmas ad until after election day. But I think Costco was 1st to have the merchandise out just before Labor Day. I expect mine to be picked clean by Black Friday.

It just isn't Christmastime until the first ad for Chia Pet makes its appearance.

Well, sure, the stores have already long since started putting out Christmas merchandise.

Of course, where I go to the beach there is a store which used to have a whole section devoted to Christmas items year round. Now most of those are in the basement where there's just a bunch of junk that hasn't sold in years, though customers are allowed down there.

Also at the beach there was (and may still be, but I haven't been where it is) a store with Christmas items year round.
