FIRST E-SKIP OF THE SEASON

The First E-Skip of the season is being noted now... Sunday May 25th around noon, with Florida coming in here in the Hudson Valley New York on 88.1 and two unID's (1 religious, 1 hard rock) on 91.9.

Of course, I slept through it, and on the day I was listening to the radio all day (today), there was no skip.
Well, I was listening to WABC 770 AM, so I probably wouldn't have noticed a skip

im yet to catch even a big tropo. the best i got was last summer hearing some station called dixie 105.7 over semi-local 105.7 The Hawk. and some rocker on 95.9 that i thought may be The Rat out of Jersey, but it wasnt...i forget the name of it. then again, this was before got my tower, now hopefully i'll get lucky over the summer. this is in Levittown PA.

oh, and at my moms house in pottsville pa, i can hear 103.7 the shark out of atlantic city on occasion.

Country formatted Dixie 105.7 broadcasts from just south of Columbia in Eastern North Carolina. The tower is basically at sea level since it's all flat swamp land around there, but it's a good 600 feet tall. It's about 305 miles from Levittown.

thats a decent catch then for picking it up with a piece of speaker wire, and taking over a semi-local station from the Jersey Shore that has a solid signal in the area, except for that night of course. i cant wait to see what im gonna pick up with new my 21' high FMSS antenna. when i turned it on that night, i was like, why the hell is The Hawk playing this, and at the same time, hoping the station didnt change formats. this is what actually got me into the whole tropo catching thing.

Tonight in central NC, between 7:30 and 8:30 and in the car, I heard:

X92.9 Lawrence KS (unless it was Calgary AB)
Cities92.9 WRPW Normal IL
94.3 Bott Radio Network Wichita KS
94.3 Kat Country KATI Jefferson City MO
96.5 KWWK Quick Country Rochester MN
96.5 Supertalk Cincinnati OH
98.9 The Bear WBYR Fort Wayne IN
100.3 K-Talk KTLK Minneapolis/St. Paul MN
104.7 WKQC K104.7 Charlotte NC
105.9 WEZC Myrtle Beach SC

Okay, I know WKQC and WEZC aren't "e-skip" here, but I've not heard them as clear as they were around here before.
It's the first E-skip I've heard in a while. Now I have to sit out in the car tomorrow, too. ;D

OK! i beat me record last night, completly by accident.

it was in Pottsville PA, around 8PM.

93.1, usually an empty frequency, unknown format, unknown calls, and unknown location. but it had to be from real far away because they were giving the weather and it said a high or 94 for saturday

93.3 which is always WMMR, was Sunny 93.3 (not sure of the miles) it had an oldies sound to it

100.3 was a country station (K something RB it sounded like) this was real strong. (100.3 is always the beat)

102.9 was also a country station (102.9 is Always WMGK) dont know what it was or where it was coming from last night.

104.3 (empty frequency) nothing known about it, except most likely classic rock, once bitten once shy was playing. (i thought maybe q104 from NYC, but i wasnt getting anything else from NYC so it probably wasnt it)

About 7:30 yesterday evening, I picked up WNOR 98.7 in Full HD and WYFI 99.7 in Norfolk, VA for about 15 minutes or so in St. Peters, MO - about 800 Miles or so...Also, 94.1 WXEZ Yorktown, VA was hammering semi-local KPVR Bowling Green, MO.

Could have been WMSI-102.9 Jackson, Mississippi.

Likely KEZP-104.3 "The Tiger", Bunkie (Alexandria), Louisiana. They are "Classic Hits". I heard them here in the Hudson Valley, NY Thrusday evening at 8:23pm.

THANK YOU! i was psyched when i found these stations. this is pretty good for a beginner with a dipole antenna. especially since i first figured out that some tropo was going on, it was on my MP3 player and i was trying to listen to WMMR. when i heard Sunny, i ran inside and started scanning the dial.

btw, it this Tropo or E-Skip. and is there a difference between E-Skip and Sopradic E?
