First Fall Trends

KOVE rebounds. So does KHJZ.

KROI showing very impressive growth...highest number EVER on 92.1. Looks like Urban Gospel is staying around.

Nothing really notable elsewhere, at a glance.

Other than KILT 100 regaining the #1 spot in Country, I agree with Mediafrog, nothing notable.

Could 92.1 be singing Praises of a 3.0 or better rating next trend? It would not surprise me.

K-Hits up slightly, hopefully 107-5 will go up in the ratings and maybe Cox will do something with The Point (LMAO). 106.9 is doomed for 80's Pop Rock forever. Interestingly it is difficult to tell if you have 107-5 or 106.9 on at times.

I noticed that KROI knocked KWWJ completely out of the arbs. KWWJ has been showing up for quite sometime now. That leaves both of Darrell Martin's Gospel AM's on the outside looking in. Any thoughts on what this may mean for KYOK/KWWJ?

Sure wish that "The Point" would morph into at least the 90's. Good God, how many times can one hear "Owner of a Lonely Heart" in a day?

AMEN to The Point, I would like to think that Cox would do something new with 106.9, BUT.

I missed that completely purpledevil, that KWWJ was no longer in the ratings. If Darrell Martin was willing to take a very good calculated risk I would take all three stations Urban Gold. Since none of the stations really have overlapping contours with City Grade, I would simulcast all three. KWWJ 1360 Baytown and KANI 1500 Wharton could stay on the air 24/7. KYOK 1140 Conroe could apply for a night license if Martin wanted to shell out the money.

I don't know for fact but I think Martin does things on the cheap. IF he has the capital and the williness to invest in the three stations, he could have three very good metro Houston stations.

KANI could move their antenna north to around Sealy and increase power and hit Houston from that direction. KWWJ could do the same with enough power at night to overcome the heavy interference on 1360. KYOK 1140 would be able to let their pattern out over all of Houston, if KTMR 1130 Edna moves to San Antonio.

Would cost money and don't know if it would be feastable for Darrell Martin.

If that occured he would have three viable stations and the ability to program three seperate formats. Black Talk is a possibility, although KCOH 1430 has a lock on that daytime. Possibiliy a fulltime Blues station and there still is money to made in brokering time to Preachers for Pay for Pray. Old School Rap is a possibility also.

KWWJ needs to get a nighttime signal over Houston to really get in the game and that would mean a second site up in the northwest area of Harris County with around 30,000 watts to send a interference free signal over Houston and suburbs.

Roula and Ryan had a great trend. Didn't look like Sam had such a good one. I wonder if the people that made the decision to replace R&R with that idiot are now paying the price. Good hire there!

How do you figure that? KHMX got a slightly bigger bounce up than did KRBE.

One more reason 12+ 6a-12a numbers are so worthless. Sammy is getting hammered by R&R (and many others) in every key demo.

The nice thing about having the PPM is that you see the diary survey wobble. KOVE was never off in PPM or in-house tracking, just the diary survey. In fact, in the last 8 weeks, KOVE has mostly been the #1 Spanish station in the market.

But did each go up, down, in those respective demos?

Even less music and more preaching, and more brokered programming?

Sure wish that "The Point" would morph into at least the 90's.

Wouldn't mind seeing a serious stab at the "90's And More" format that KROI stunted with after the sale to Radio One. But perhaps too much overlap with Mix and Buzz?

Yep, Mediafrog I think so too. It would potentially run into some problems overlapping Mix, and might step on Sunny's toes as well. Probably another 5 years or so until we see an all 90's format here in Houston. It wasn't until 2000 that we got the Point, IIRC.

Mike: I don't expect to see old school rap on any of the three stations he posesses. Darrell Martin is a heavily involved Christian man, and to jeopardize his integrety like that, would be very surprising. I'm almost tempted to say that he might broker the stations, at least KWWJ, and target KYOK to serve Conroe as licensed. With the problems that KANI/Wharton has had in the past, that may be another signal in the bay area that goes on the real estate market.
