First "Glee" Album Debuts In Billboard Top Five

"Glee: The Music, Volume 1," the soundtrack of the freshman Fox series, sold over 113,000 units in its first week on the charts, good enough to finish fourth on the Top 200 Album Chart.

Full story, with press release:

The press release also says that a follow-up album will be released on December 8.

My question is, didn't Fox go down this road about two decades ago? Does anyone not remember "The Heights"?

This time around, though, the ratings and critical reviews are better.

Plus, with "The Heights" all the push was on the first single, which is the way you had to do it in the days of cassingles and radio dominance.

With "Glee," Fox has been pushing each song as a single through iTunes. The CD is an afterthought.
