Excellent bandscan Travis! Just a couple corrections..... XEPRS/1090 (formerly XERB) is licensed to Tijuana, BCN, Mexico and XEPE/1700 is also located in Mexico. But in any event, welcome aboard! If you have a chance at night, you should be able to get 1160/KSL from Salt Lake City quite well at night IF... you can out notch out KLOK/1170 and KTLK/1150. Try it out. Same with 770. If you can notch out KCBC/770 from Modesto (quite a feat but it's possible) you should be able to get KKOB from Albuquerque. Good luck and once again, welcome!

I'm surprised that an Eton analog emergency radio in CA could perform that well. BTW, the Portland 620 is KPOJ, not KEOJ; I know the calls sounds so similar. The FR 300 must have a big ferrite bar antenna inside.

What is that station on 890 from Travis AFB? Is it a Travelers Information Station, or
are they broadcasting Armed Forces Radio domestically? (offhand I do not know of
any stateside bases that do this)

Hey, KLO from Ogden, UT is a great catch! A mere 5 kw at 1430 (a graveyard frequency) carrying 700 miles like that.

I am surprised at how well you've managed to do on that model of radio. It's not commonly known as a dx machine, so you much have the 'touch' of a true dxer.

Nice catches! The 'chinese' you are hearing is probably 1540 KMPC, out of Los Angles, which carries Korean programming.
