First Monsoon, is it raining where you are?

Edna in Sun City is the happiest person in the world.

Lets talk to Ed about this storm.

Send Tammy Vo to gush about how deep a puddle is!

Monty is on call!

Should have bought a Lennar Home

Only had stomach to watch one news channel

Some Channel 5 chick standing besides a road. "a huge line of cars, in a virtual stand still!!!"

Then the camera panned on 3 cars in line, moving quite fine down the road.

Then they had film of some Scottsdale DB who drove his beemer convertable into the deep water. He was on the phone worrying about his trunk.

Other 5 babe was standing in the non rain, wearing a yellow slicker talking about how the wind blew down temporary road signs!

I want to see a news babe show us how to make sandbags!!!!

Its the silly season, I love it!

There is absolutely nothing dumber than local Phoenix "news" on TV anywhere in the world (and I am including all those dingbat human interest stories from India, the annual insanity of the running of the bulls in Spain and the long waiting line of idiots waiting to buy the latest tech device).

Visitors from rainy elsewhere must think we're a population of dumbclucks as these same "stories" air after each and every time it rains.

I turned off the local blow-dried airheads years ago.

Anyone know what the Dewey Point is?.....Nurse Jeff can't seem to keep his hair laying down flat today.

As I remember, from physically running into Dewey Hopper on the soccer field in the 80's (before he went to Sacto) I can attest the Dewey Point was about 5'6" and built like a barrel of beer.

It was funny to listen to the voicetracked stations (and they know who they are - and so do we) just playing songs and whistlin' dixie. Nice to see there are still some 'live' stations that can react in the public interest.

Silly, isn't it?

What? We need 'live', 'public interest' stations to tell us it's raining outside and there might be puddles and traffic jams?

3's new 9pm newscast was a great example of PHX tv news at its best. Started with "Breaking News", let's go immediately to Chief Met Royal Norman. Then, Norman actually did most of the newscast occasionally going to 1 of 4 reporters in the field. The reporters basically said things like, "It's really raining out here and windy, too! We have shots of a huge puddle on the roadway. Here's a picture of a stalled car...It was really raining hard out here about 15 minutes ago!" Then, back to Royal's radar for a few more minutes. Finally, at 9:35pm, Bev told us that we wouldn't be seeing many of the stories that were teased earlier and that we should tune in tomorrow to see those stories. Then, she did a 60 second summary of all the other news going on.

Let's not forget Bev's feigned confusion interspersed throughout the newscast. "Let's see, who are we going to go to now...I believe we're going to Jared D...no...we're going to Bob for a water rescue off of I-17...wait, we're having problems with Bob's audio...let's go to Royal with the latest radar..."

I think Ross got about 90 seconds for sports. All in all, a typical evening in Phoenix tvland!

Good point.

Just voicetrack it and all the radio people can watch from the comfort of their own home sofa.
