That strong sun made for well cut shadows though IMO, at least on TV.
That's why ASU plays its home games at night. The Cards couldn't do that. A domed stadium on a hot September afternoon is mandatory.
When the Eagles were in the Big Red's division, this Birds fan could always hear lots of E-A-G-L-E-S cheers at SDS on TV. BTW I drove by SDS one time - on my visit to Arizona in 1981.
Native Arizonans have always been Cowboy fans since that's who we got on TV before the Cards arrived. I still remember going to a Cards-Redskins game a few years ago and seeing an Arizona Repulsive booth at Sun Devil Stadium. They were giving away Cowboys t-shirts with every new subscription! At a game featuring the local team vs. a division rival (both were in the NFC East at the time)!
Folks who move here from elsewhere will always cheer for their hometown team. That's the case in every Sun Belt city. It's their kids that the local teams have to win over. The Diamondbacks and Coyotes have done a good job of that, while the Cards only make token efforts.
The reason I said yes is because several of my friends who bought season tickets did so in the hopes of getting Super Bowl tickets. We shall see how many people show up in a few years.
When the novelty of UofPHX Stadium wears off, IOW. It's all up to the Bidwills IYKWIM.

The Same Ol' Cardinals are owned by the Same Ol' Bidwills. The team has talent and a better coach, but as always, the Bidwills are who we THOUGHT they were. ;D
