First sign of "winter dx season" is here.....

I remember when we used to have over 50 sw stations in Ecuador. Now there are just a couple.

A couple of years ago I asked my daughter in Quito to look at a couple of electronics stores and see if any had short wave capable radios. None did.
 
6050 HCJB Quito, Ecuador 10kw directional is audible here tonight around 0440UTC
Recent editions of the World Radio TV Handbook list the 6050 transmitter as only 1kw. It has a later signoff time on weekends, so easier to hear. When conditions are good I have fair reception in Houston late in the local evening.

Some of the Andean influenced Contemporary Christian Music they play is hauntingly beautiful.

Appears HCJB on 6050 is the only shortwave broadcaster left in Ecuador, which has been the case for several years now.
