First Summer Trends Show Some Significance

Let's all say together "They're just 12+ trends," but these trends really seem to show some significance.

First, are we listening to more country? All country stations are up significantly, with all three major FMs in the top 7. Why should one flip when they're all in the top 7? Even WANT has some showing on the chart.

Second, Jack is way slack. When was the last time a SCC station in this town ranked as low as 10th?

Oldies is up a bit, as usual for the summer (Wouldn't you think Jack would be up for the summer too?). The Zone lost a coupla points as George was regaining his voice. 1510 is showing a little more erosion.

Southern Wabash and its Spanish format have topped a 2 share. Is this a first for both in the market?

And Lightning and Venus drop a little more, as does the Fan after enjoying a bump.

Yes, they're 12+ trends, but there's some movement here...

Questions:
1.) Is the bloom off the rose for Jack? Will they ever be as hot as they were when they launched?
2.) Oldies (musically) sounds better than ever and I think they are starting to pick up cume from 105.9. Anyone?
3.) What is happening with the Big D/Bubba show? Were their 25-54 numbers any better than the Spring book? And on a related note, how were the numbers for the dearly departed Dean & Kim? Or does the Wolf owns afternoons?
4.) What's happening with Plaster? How much was he even on the air during this trend?
5.) Are Bob & Sheri doing anything for Venus?

Thoughts?

can Rumba 102.5 be far away?

Serious graphics on the Rumba 102.5, CR. You obviously spent more time working on that than Cromwell did on rolling out Venus.
Look for that exact logo on interstate billboards all over town.

As for the other stuff --- in no order
Jack is being pulled in to many directions, which it is supposed to be, but only in theory. The fact that they are not targeting
105-9 totally is a shocker, especially with Wall living here in Nashville, yet they seem to be trying to expand P2 listeners
instead of going for the throat of their only real competitor, and, if they are not careful, which seems oddly possible to me,
Jack is going to let Cumulus start trying to take a bigger piece of the pie because...

I still think 97.1 is leaning toward a classic hits Labor Day approach, which will take a point max from 105.9 and maybe
a little (maybe 0.5) less from Jack. But that still vitally important. Three stations in a similar realm of music is going to
be interesting (if it happens.)

Plaster is toast until football season, and then still maybe. I just wonder if overall, Sports Talk has been so mishandled in this
city that it'll never reach it's potential. It's just going to depend of how various seasons go.

Bob & Sherri are killing an already dead Venus. It has to be the worst radio station in 25 years in this market and yet it could be
so easy to fix and have fun with, but no...and God bless John King and the team there. I feel sorry for Mr. Walters.
Nobody should have that kind of a mess going on this long -- regardless of if he allowed or allows it -- radio hell should not be eternal.

Are Big D & Bubba still on? Hint to their numbers.

Best thing, is Wolf is better sounding now (to me) than when John Sebastian was there. And the newness has worn off and they are still strong.
How to make WSM #1 --- we all know it --- Chris Romer 24/7, open mic. Call the FCC in for back-up. It'll be hotter than a CNN anchor during
a Bush speech. You guys did hear about that?

Tibbs...you're right about the Rumba 102.5 logo...
I spent about 10 seconds on it, doubling the effort that went into Venus.
BTW...I had the open mic scenario a few weeks ago with a NexGen total crash.
No music. No spots. No CDs loaded. Yeah...that's entertainment!

On the tech side of things, on thing that hurts 102.5 is where thier transmitter site is, which is in Dickson County, almost to Clarksville. They have a much better signal over Clarksville, then they do Nashville. Plus they went and bought a Energy Onix Transmitter. Anything that Bernie Wise (owner of Energy Onix) has his hands in (transmitter manufacture wise) is junk!
Also, since they have empolyed HD Radio, they can not modulate the analog signal like they once could. You notice how much LOUDER 107.5, 96.3, etc is than 102.5. Until HD Radio becomes more popular with the masses, it is a foolish idea of Bud Walters to promote HD!

if nobody cares about 12+ why give them any creedence? kinda contradiction to say **just 12+ trends** and "seem to show some significance" in the same breath

Jack is top five in the adults 25-54 demo. solid. oldies is number 12 adults 25-54. big deal. kdf looks back on the way up. venus is toast
