First To Flip?

Getting to be that time of the year when the Buffalo contingent makes its perilous predictions as to whether and when Star or WJYE or maybe even Mix flips the switch to All Christmas. I haven't seen a countdown clock on any station's website, so I'll go out on a limb and offer that this year both stations will be up and running a lot sooner than last year: WJYE, Thursday, November 13th, 9 a.m., followed within minutes by Star.

Awwwwww, shaddup.

No offense.

The Bird

I think that we should flip something to any station that goes all Christmas before Thanksgiving...

Wow, what a ray of sunshine you are! Santa's probably gonna put that lump of coal in YOUR stocking this year.

As to Mike's prediction: I'll bet on 11/17 for the first flip - and really go on a limb and say Star goes first.

The hard drives are locked and loaded. Whichever one flips first, the other will go within the hour.

Both will go too soon for my taste.

Are we all set to get our Ipods out?

I already "flipped" my iTunes. When a Christmas song comes on, I don't automatically hit "next" in the shuffle play.

Especially if it's The Chipmunks.

(ducking)

I was in Green Bay, WI on Wednesday and nearly wrecked the rental when I heard a station had already flipped. Sheesh!

That IS way too early but ... does it really matter?

It is so poorly done no matter which station does it. Over researched, focus grouped, tested ... and very poorly programmed.

I plan to whip out all the Goodyear 'Columbia Special Products' vinyl LPs and the Firestone and Grants LPs and play some real Christmas music! HO HO HO!

(I guess that proves I am one of the 'crusty old' board posters! LOL)

You're not alone, Kal. I, too, have fond memories of the albums you mentioned. In fact, next time I'm at the family homestead, I'll have to check and see if we still have them!

Phil,

If you find that they are gone, let me know. I've been collecting them over the years and I may have a few tunes you remember! If any programmers out there could use some real Christmas music, expertly programmed and formatted ... I'm available, too! Except on those LPs, where have Steve & Eydie, Jack Jones and Mahalia Jackson gone? LOL

And how about Cary Grant ...

Awesome! WE used to play it on WBUF FM 93 ... the #1 WBUF! You remember WBUF from the late '80's and early '90s!
Damn, has it been that long ago!? (Not the format of the month WBUF!)

The programmers have forgotten what Christmas is.

None taken. But actually, the line goes something like this, "Awwww shut yer trap, if you spent less time yappin' and more time painting, this job would be done and we'd make some money." -Uncle Oskie. You were close, though. Which makes me wonder if we've ever painted your house or office... or if you bumped into my uncle in a gin mill in South Buffalo.
