Buy more tv and radio... probobly yes, in seattle? no

104.5 will get snatched up by CC in a heart beat if they are smart, and put Monkey on it to face off KISW
(no new news)
Even if they cant get to Cougar

Sandusky i can tell you is sure as hell not for sale, with KWRM and KWJZ where they are and KQMV raising fast
They are headed for a TON of sales!
I just recently posted something on this, but MOViN is definatly NOT MOViN anymore, they are just using the MOViN branding.
They are this weird KUBE, KISS, JAMMiN (PDX) blend.

Channel 11, maybe... not too framiliar with that situation.

104.5 goes to CC. MOvin was never a "format" or some sort of ya ya national brand as I have said many tiems on this board. It is about hip personality like Monti and music for the market. You got it right for seattle and the Movin here is a blend of old school, pop and rythmic pop with ya ya girl power mornings. It works in seattle because of exicution and talent.
the station took KBKS by surprise and they have never recovered. In march Movin was top three 18-34 and top three 25-54 and MOVIN up. Ya ya good!

Don't know if all you "cowboys" and "ya ya" girls know this but the same company that owns 104.5 provides the backing for Bustos. I am not saying that they couldn't sell 104.5 to someone else, but Bustos and Spanish could be in the mix when all is said and done.

Are U talking about Alta Communications? I did read their financials a few months ago when the assignment happened with KMCQ and First Broad and you are right. I still think the Funky Monkey has been desperate to move up North and that is what I expect. When asked about this to a fellow close to CC last year he just looked at me with a slight twinkle in his eye. I guess that is a "no comment" or non-denial denial.

Most likely Fisher will continue to purchase Spanish and stations outside of the Seattle metroplex....they will go for so called "bargains" where they see possibilities inside of top 100 markets....sorry Yakima + Seattle....YKM won't generate the $$ and Seattle is just too expensive for these bargain operators.

Channel 11 is an O & O nowadays....it's possible if CBS feels very pinched at this point....I don't think that CBS will give it up cheap. The only reason for Fisher to buy 11 is if they are feeling like they need to compete for the local ad dollars on a 2nd operation split-off (like what ch 5 + 13 do on 16 + 22) and also run a 10 pm news.....but they could do that on their new spanish station now.....someone else inside the plaza can add more to this story....it's certainly worth watching!

One scenario that was bandied around inside Plaza at one point was 'what if Fisher traded the radio stations to CBS in exchange for Channel 11'. Nothing came of it, though I always wanted to see what would happen if KPTK and KVI had to be side-by-side on the same floor.

Bingo
That deal makes a whole heap of sense to this cowboy. Fisher gets a second TV station and CBS gets a full cluster. That would give em a full boat of 5 FM and 3 AM signals and Fisher gets a solid major market TV signal. If Bonneville picked up Sandusky you'd have a real battle. Entercom and CC would be outmatched in that rodeo :p

No real staff at KPTK to do battle. It's all off the bird. Let's get some live, local talent on that 1090 signal and have us a real radio donnybrook!

Uh, last time I looked, Fisher already owns two full power TV stations in the Seattle-Tacoma DMA, KOMO TV4 and KUNS TV 51, (Univision). And yes, KUNS is a full-power UHF (3,800kW from West Tiger Mt.), with a companion digital channel. So the answer to your wild speculation is no, they wouldn't be in the market for channel 11.

takeitfrome sez: >> I know for a fact Entercom and Bonneville ain't for sale <<

Maybe so. But I've been in radio a long time and have learned that these are definitely in the category of famous last words ...

Are the CBS Radio Stations in Sacramento still for sale? Is Bonneville still interested in that cluster? Might Fisher be interested in them?
