Flagstaff-Prescott ratings

justthenumbers said:
I just noticed that Flagstaff 12+ ratings (actually shares) are once again being posted publically, after being "embargoed" for several years.
......
but are there any other groups/owners not subscribing?
Southwest Broadcasting? (KAHM / KYCA) Their FM puts a very good signal into Flagstaff.

Tabback's KAZM 780 5kW/250W Sedona has huge ratings but doesn't show up because they don't subscribe.

Their telephone ratings are on their web site for potential clients.

Also KBXZ 1650 100mW Flagstaff has huge ratings in the Flag metro, and their numbers show up on their web site.

In Santa Fe, NM, Arbitron is also corrupted right now.

The latest ratings that were released are chopped up like cole slaw.

Stations that usually make the top 5... KAHM, KQST, KVRD... are nowhere to be found. OK, maybe they don't subscribe. But Arbitron can't just IGNORE major stations in the market.

Powerhouse 100,000-watt KAHM, licensed to Prescott, doesn't make the Flagstaff-Prescott ratings. But they do get around a one-share in the Phoenix ratings. Huh? If they don't subscribe, why do they get included in one market and not another? "

The listing I have shows KAHM at a 6.8 for #1. KQST is 7th, KVRD is is 8th. Remember, this is such a small market that the ratings are actually rolling averages of the last two surveys, Spring and Fall.

KAZM completed a several book downtrend by not showing in the Fall release.

That's hard to believe. The "Beautiful Music" format is dying everywhere else. And after listening (both online and air), they don't execute it very well.

That powerhouse signal from Mingus Mountain must make the difference. :D

Remember, these are 12+ numbers. Like WDUV, the AC / Beautiful hybrid in Tampa, which is #1 12+, most of KAHM's listeners are over 55... a lot older. But since a huge portion of the area population is in that age group, the audience segment is probably quite viable.

KAZM, with no ratings, is estimated to be the market's top biller... so ratings and revenues do not go hand in hand in this kind of market.

Interesting. From what I hear on the KAHM stream they are a little short on sales, although they might be overlaying some on-air spots. And many spots target the 65+ demo (of which I've been a member for some time).

Thanks for your comments.
