I was on the air in Lock Haven for a couple of years back in the early/mid 1980's and remember the Flaming Foliage Festival but don't remember in what town it was held. Can anyone help me out? I was in Renovo Recently and was shocked to hear the radio station from that area called 106.9 the surge..its a rock station..very well put together.....nice to see something cool coming out of that area and if i remember the station reaches clear into state college as well...if you get a chance and are up twords that way turn it on..I think you'll be impressed..i know I was.

In the Fall of 1988 I went to work at WWZU, Zoo 92, in Lock Haven which was programed by Mark Schlesinger at the time. We played some decent rock & roll but I was surprised by the number of rock acts Mark had never heard of. Near the end of the year he announced that he was taking the station to Hot Hits after the first of the year and I turned in my notice

The Surge 106.9 is owned by Magnum Broadcasting (Michael Stapleford) who also owns JoeFM, WPHB, & WBLF in the State College/Phillipsburg/Bellefonte markets as well as WDDH (50kw FM), "The Hound" Country in St. Marys. I think his dad owned Stapleford Broadcasting who had WRRN in Warren. The operations in the State College cluster is pretty well put together. JoeFM has given Froggy a run for their money.
