Brock Whaley posted this on the DX Florida Group today!

Is the new CP built out already in Baldwin, FL? I thought Luther or someone posted that already -- that the construction was underway...
So Metro Jax, what's next, the triumphant return of RadioActive Home Shopping with Chrith Edwardth (mocking a lisp) with more (AM Stereo) Redneck Rock and Roll (tounge-planted-firmly-in-cheek). Just kidding, friends!! Just reviewing my old airchecks.

I wish Mr. Macentee a fine retirement with all that dough. The new xmtr site/power ought to sear the paint off all the cars across Metro-Jax!

Isn't Griffin the guy who was managing the Salem properties before they dumped them?

Rocky Shore? What the Hell are you talking about? Your resume shows nothing I wouldn't give 100,00 for all those stations you mentioned..APE

Big Ape...

Grow up and stop attacking someone's talent/career. At least he posts under his "real name" Anyone knows who Rocky W. Shore really is.... I can't say the same for you!

Ron(Rocky) is a very talented man and I've had the pleasure of meeting him.

[EDIT], APE.

[EDIT-inflammatory]

;D Thank you for your wonderful comments! Everyone doesn't know who "Rocky whoever is" I don't and I don't know who Paul Walker is. All I know is you are 23 years old and after glancing briefly at your website saw that you call yourself "THE RADIO GOD"?? Give me a break. I didn't realize you had to post under your real name. Please excuse me.

I never said you HAD to post under your real name, but if you're going to insult someones talents/abilities/career, then don't be such a chicken and tell us who you are.

Big Ape,

I was just making a little light out of the situation of WIOJ. Back around 1996 or 1997, the format for the station was automated (self-titled) "Redneck Rock and Roll". The (apparent) head announcer, while surely a great guy, was a standout, having a fair lisp, something you just don't come across scanning the band... it was kind of cool to listen to oldies in AM Stereo, the audio was pretty nice in the AM wideband (10kz) mode for what it was. They paid the bills basically by airing "RadioActive Home Shopping" much like 92.1 WJXR.

I'd think that the station was leased from Macentee Broadcasting back in that era. It wasn't compelling radio, just something radio folk pay attention to.

Sure I haven't been employed by a 100kw FM station, but I'm just a part-time engineering tech and host. It's not my main bread and butter as I'm semi-retired in my mid 40s. When teching or jocking no longer becomes fun, I'll just drop it ,head back to the cheap seats and become just an observer of an industry I very enamored with.

I'm an aircheck collector (over 2,000 airchecks) and a station legal ID collector as well (maybe 3,000 IDs on CD or hard drives.. Don't get me started on the tower/studio photo stuff. The wife says it's an afflictioin.

Nice to meet you Big Ape - any further questions; just shout...

Anyhow

Good move for the buyer, picking up an AM that actually might cover all of Jacksonville.

I'll be interested in hearing if the veteran Greg Larson stays on the station--depending on the possible new format. After all this time, I still can't picture him doing a show on a Christian station, especially with the goings-on at his Wacko's and Box Seats remotes on Talk Radio 970 circa Y2K. I'd tell you more, but you wouldn't believe it.

;D No problem Rocky..Nice to meet ya.. I'm an orginal Cocoa Beach fellow myself . Woked every market in Fla , NC Some Ga. and SC, Ala. Started radio when I was 13 at my Dad's stations in Cocoa beach..Graduated University of Fla in 1971..Good Luck in the Business!

Also worked for Southern Broadcasting ..WTOB WS a run at WSGN Birmingham.. More later!
