95.9 WATD news... Good to hear her on the air.
______________
I've been listening to your show on the radio, and you seem like a friend to meeeeeeeee

Not WBZ Radio's finest hour. Jonic told the truth as a good reporter must do and she loses her job. Then again, WBZ Radio is known for shading the truth... can you spell Gary LaPierre's winter microphone location...????hmm??
'Give us 22 Minutes and we will not give you all the news.'

It's great to hear that Flo Jonic is back doing what she does so well. As far as the LaPierre thing, I don't know about you, but it doesn't matter to me where he's actually sitting when he delivers the news. Much of what a news anchor reads is written for him or her, and in this case, I'm sure BZ didn't give his writers plane tickets to the Southern outpost. They're in Boston. Rock on....

Flo/'BZ/Rob Hakala

Will the move inflence anything? Would 'BZ do any kind of "leaning" on Rob because he is on both?

Of course, Hakala is married to....wait for it....Lori Kirby. It's all incestuous.

Huh?

That's precisely my point, there wouldn't be reasoning to it, but would 'BZ try and put him (Rob) in a situation of some sort, to make him choose one or the other, or something like that. We know 'BZ can be sneaky at times.

And it was a simple question, knock it off with your condesceding response.

oooh, I did not know that LOL

Re: Huh?

Rob is married to Ms Kirby, it's no secret.

Rob does a great morning show on WATD listen to it sometime they stream audio and have for years even when everyone else didn't

Ms Kirby actually went to BZ from WATD

Rob probably had nothing to do with her hiring. He is not the News Director there. Ed Perry calls most of the shots. Ed is the inventor of the W.E.L. format too!
(inside joke)

and last of all Ed Perry and crew run a first class operation, and have won many awards for thier local news coverage. If I were going to go back to working in radio the ony place I'd like to work would be WATD

No, EWF....She lost her job for insubordination.

Not Flo's finest hour...

Insubordination to news censor jerks at WBZ Radio is a badge of honor Flo Jonic can wear proudly. To paraphrase, Jonic was NOT being a good German... Sometimes NOT following order is the moral thing to do and the conscience of those who are just good Germans wrecks havoc upon the world.

There are somethings more important than a job - like personal honor and integrity which the news director of that weak kneed station apparently knows little about.

Re: Flo/'BZ/Rob Hakala

Rob works for Metro/Shadow and WATD. Has been for years. Nothing will change.

You've obviously got some beef with someone at 'BZ.

Possibly a former employee??

If she likes eating Mac & Cheese and Fishsticks...she can continue to work at WATD.

If she wants a job where she is paid well, live well, can educate her kids and be heard everywhere, she should've realized who was paying her salary.

Honestly, I don't know what planet you are on. I don't know of ANY station (BZ or otherwise) which would have put up with her sending disapraging emails around the company.

If BZ was wrong in this...then every other broadcast outlet would be wrong too.

I don't think they would tolerate it even at WATD.

Maybe she's learned a lesson.

There's something more than claiming false honor....it's self-control, responsibility, being accountable, maturity and learning to obey your superiors.

If you can't do that....leave....don't throw a hissy fit like a child.

Re: WATD Wednesday

I had to drive to Cape Cod during yesterday's storm. I flipped over to 'ATD on the way down. This woman who goes by the last name Raven (her first name escapes me) did a masterful job, sprinkling in phone calls from people around the area telling what was happening there in the middle of song sets. Nothing overbearing about it, this wasn't an emergency situation. But it was a clearinghouse of info about what was going on in places ranging from Marshfield to Plainville. Well done.

Re: WATD Wednesday

The name of the announcer in question is Liz Raven.

And yes, WATD is one of the best-run stations of any size. If only all suburban stations were as good.

Re: WATD Wednesday

Yes that would be Liz.

She is very a very funny person off air too!

She mentioned to me that she once interned with Julie Devereaux, I forget whether it was at CGY or BOS.

Re: WATD Wednesday

The quick slice I heard reminded me of WBZ during its full-service days.
